Conclusion

Congratulations to the sponsors and Lexington Catholic athletic director/coach Danny Haney for putting this event together.  It was a real treat for the fans to see DeMatha and their legendary coach Morgan Wooten.  Oak Hill Academy had seven Division 1 players: Antywane Robinson (Temple), Carmelo Anthony (Syracuse), Justin Gray (Wake Forest), Eric Wilkins (Miami, FL), Chad Moore (Cincinnati), Ian Johnson (Davidson), and Sani Ibrahim (undecided).  DeMatha’s Travis Garrison (Maryland) had an excellent two day event with 40 points and 22 rebounds in two games.  Rashaun Freeman (Schenectady) shows a lot of potential.  6-5 Jr. Negus McKenna was a bright spot for St. Lambert.

The DeMatha-Lexington Catholic game was a classic-well coached and well played by both teams.  Once 5-9 Jr. Von Fields recovers completely from a football injury he will add another dimension to the Scott Co. team.  Madison Central scored a big win over the Brandon Stockton led Glasgow squad.  Bowling Green and Pleasure Ridge Park has talent and should enjoy fine seasons.  Schenectady lost a lot of experience from last year’s team but has an excellent inside game in Rashaun Freeman and Eric Joyner.  Antwain Barbour impressed me simply because he did not get frustrated by the fact he only took seven shots for the evening.  He showed a lot of maturity by focusing on other aspects of his game: assists and rebounding.  St. Catharine got an excellent performance from Ray Trowell.

A special thanks to Lexington Catholic High School and Coach Haney for the hospitality extended me during this event.  Also a big thank you to WL Stats—nobody does it better.
