Tates Creek coach Joe Pat Covington started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Michael Cross, 6-2 Sr. Brad Schueler, 6-2 Sr. Josh Stigall, 6-2 So. Justin Taylor, and 6-2 Jr. Josh Bell. Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Eddie Oakley countered with 6-0 Jr. Mike Matthews, 6-1 Jr. Kenny Hale, 6-7 Sr. Kenneth Fox, 5-9 Sr. Steve Greene, and 5-10 Jr. Jamie Adams.
Tates Creek used a deep bench with nine players reaching the scoring column on the way to a 69-60 victory over Dunbar. Tates Creek improved their district record to 4-2 and is now tied for first place with Dunbar. Tates Creek took a 31-29 lead at halftime on two free throws by Justin Taylor after the buzzer. Tates Creek took a 57-45 lead in the final period before Dunbar rallied to pull within six, 57-51. Michael Cross then hit three straight medium range jump shots for Tates Creek to give the Commodores a 63-51 lead and put the game out of reach. Tates Creek was led today by Michael Cross, Justin Taylor, and Josh Stigall with 15, 13, and 10 points respectively. Dunbar was led by Kenneth Fox with 16 points. 6-1 Fr. Tory Robertson and Kenny Hale added 13 and 11 points respectively.
