Bryan Station (0-0) at Lafayette (1-0)

Bryan Station coach Jackie Williams started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Tracy Harbut, 5-10 So. Brittney Clark, 6-0 Fr. Crystal Leach, 5-6 Fr. Carley Blankenship, and 5-7 Fr. Bradli Stinson.  Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 5-9 Sr. Mollie Kelly, 5-10 Sr. Dawn Chestnut, 6-4 Sr. Kara Hamilton, 5-6 Fr. Katie Kelly, and 5-9 So. Lucy Clark.

Bryan Station had to rally from a one point deficit with less than two minutes remaining on the clock to defeat Lafayette by a score of 54-49.  Bryan Station led 46-40 at the end of the third quarter before Lafayette took a 49-48 lead.  Bryan Station recaptured the lead 50-49 on two free throws by Brittney Clark with 1:46 remaining on the clock.  Bryan Station then put the ball in the hands of their senior all-stater Tracy Harbut and she connected on four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.  Both teams shot below 40% from the field and combined for over 50 turnovers.  However both teams have several excellent young players with a lot of potential.  Both teams hustled throughout the contest and will only get better over the season.  Bryan Station started three freshmen, one soph, plus Ms. Harbut.  The quickness of Bryan Station was evident today as they recorded 15 steals.

Bryan Station was led today by Tracy Harbut with 20 points, seven rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Harbut was a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line.  Carley Blankenship added 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Lafayette was led by Lucy Clark with 15 points.  Katie Kelly added 12 points and 6-1 So. Katie Colson came off the bench and gave a good effort with six points.  Kara Hamilton and 5-8 Fr. Susie Owens were hampered with fouls today and both fouled out late in the game. Both of these teams have good young talent and mixed in with their senior leadership should make for two nice teams this year.
