Mason County (21-2) at Lafayette (14-8)  (Boys)

Mason County coach Kelly Wells started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Chris Lofton, 6-3 Sr. Dustin Grutza, 6-3 Sr. Jarrod Litzinger, 6-0 Jr. Casey Pfeffer, and 6-1 Jr. Wes Jones.  Lafayette coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-6 Sr. Nic Mullins, 6-1 Sr. Marcus Barron, 6-8 Sr. Darnell Dialls, 6-0 Jr. T. J. Chinn, and 6-0 So. Pete Gifford.

This was a game of runs and Mason County made the decisive one, scoring 13 of the final 15 points to capture an 87-79 decision over Lafayette.  Mason County held a 46-39 lead at halftime but Lafayette outscored the Royals 27-14 in the third quarter to lead 66-60 at the end of three quarters.  Lafayette led 77-74 with three minutes remaining on the clock before Mason County took command for the victory.

Mason County shot 47% from the field, connected on 21 of 27 free throws, and pulled down 39 rebounds.  Lafayette shot 51.6% from the field, was eight of 10 from the free throw line, and grabbed 31 rebounds.  Mason County scored 30 points off 22 Lafayette turnovers while Lafayette scored 19 points off 17 Mason County miscues.

The victors were led today by Wes Jones with 26 points and nine rebounds.  Chris Lofton added 20 points, seven rebounds, and six steals.  Dustin Grutza chipped in with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Jarrod Litzinger added 16 points.  Darnell Dialls and Marcus Barron led Lafayette with 20 points each.  Dialls was hampered by foul problems and only played 18:30 of the game.  Pete Gifford and T. J. Chinn chipped in with 17 and 13 points respectively.  Nic Mullins only scored five points but he pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
