Newport Central Catholic (14-5) vs. Lexington Catholic (22-1)

Newport Central Catholic coach Christie McDonald started the following lineup:  5-10 Sr. Stacey Smith, 5-8 So. Shannon Klei, 6-0 Fr. Whitney Cundiff, 5-5 Sr. Alex Litmer, and 5-7 Sr. Jayme Thiem.  Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 5-9 Sr. Adaeze Azubuike, 6-0 Jr. Anaris Sickles, 6-1 Sr. Shannon Novosel, 5-6 So. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Jr. Nikki Davis.

Lexington Catholic went on a 16-0 run in the second quarter to lead Newport Central Catholic 33-16 on their way to an 74-48 victory.  The Lady Knights scored 25 points off 23 Newport Central Catholic turnovers and held a 26-3 advantage in bench scoring.

Lexington Catholic shot 41.7% from the field including six of 22 from behind the arc.  They connected on eight of nine free throws and pulled down 42 rebounds.  Newport Central Catholic shot 29.4% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  Newport Central Catholic only attempted 51 shots from the field while Lexington Catholic had 72 field goal attempts.  Newport Central Catholic connected on 13 of 27 free throws and pulled down 45 rebounds.

The victors were led by Keyla Snowden with 15 points and six rebounds.  Nikki Davis added 14 points, dished out five assists, and recorded four steals.  Anaris Sickles added 11 points and six rebounds.  Shannon Novosel chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Jayme Thiem led Newport Central Catholic with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals.  Whitney Cundiff and Alex Litmer added 11 and nine points respectively.
