Frankfort (0-2) at Sayre (4-0)

Acting Frankfort head coach Donnie Mefford started the following lineup:  5-9 Jr. Antoine Robinson, 6-0 Jr. Zed Smith, 6-4 Jr. Josh Smith, 5-11 Sr. Alonzo Tillman, and 6-0 Sr. Matt Anderson.  Sayre coach Gene Kirk countered with 6-3 Jr. Trae Cunningham, 6-1 Sr. Bush Gess, 5-10 Sr. Chris Scott, 5-10 Sr. Will Campbell, and 5-6 Jr. Dee Smith.

Sayre’s Trae Cunningham hit a runner in the lane with 17 seconds remaining and held on for a 63-61 victory when Frankfort missed a three point attempt in the closing seconds.  Frankfort’s Alonzo Tillman had tied the score at 61-61 with a three point basket with 33 seconds remaining in the game.  There were seven lead changes and five ties in the game with Sayre holding the largest lead of the game 36-25 in the second quarter.

Sayre shot 43.1% from the field including five of 16 from behind the arc, connected on 14 of 18 free throws, and pulled down 27 rebounds.  Sayre scored 22 points off 15 Frankfort turnovers and held a 9-0 advantage in bench scoring.  Frankfort shot 51% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  Frankfort connected on four of six free throws and pulled down 29 rebounds.

Trae Cunningham led Sayre with 14 points.  Bush Gess added 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Dee Smith and Chris Scott chipped in with 11 points each.  Matt Anderson led Frankfort with 28 points on 11 of 16 from the field, including four of five from the three point line and two of two from the free throw line.  Alonzo Tillman added 15 points.
