Lexington Catholic (2-0) at Mercy Academy (2-0) 

Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Natalie Novosel, 5-7 So. Briana Green, 6-0 Sr. Anaris Sickles, 5-7 Jr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Sr. Nikki Davis.  Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-8 Sr. Megan McGuire, 5-8 Sr. Melissa Schindler, 5-8 Sr. Brittany Buss, 5-7 Sr. Mallory Luckett, and 6-0 Sr. Jenny Petrie.

Lexington Catholic rallied from a 57-56 deficit with 2:41 left in the game to eke out a 66-62 decision over Mercy.  There were a total of nine lead changes and six ties in the game.  The victors held a decided 53-39 advantage in total rebounds with an advantage of 29-17 on the offensive boards.  Both these teams live on defense and in the battle of turnovers it was fairly even.  Lexington Catholic scored 20 points off 22 Mercy turnovers and Mercy scored 18 points off 21 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Lexington Catholic shot 36.8% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc, and connected on eight of 12 free throws.  Mercy Academy shot 39.7% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line, and connected on seven of 11 free throws.  Lexington Catholic held a 13-7 advantage in bench scoring.

Anaris Sickles and Keyla Snowden led the victors in scoring with 14 and 12 points respectively.  Natalie Novosel added 10 points and 15 rebounds, while 6-0 Fr. Malik Stevenson chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Briana Green recorded nine points and seven rebounds.  Nikki Davis had a “busy” statline with with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, and seven steals.  Jenny Petrie led Mercy Academy with 26 points and seven rebounds before fouling out with one minute remaining in the game.  Mallory Luckett added 13 points and dished out seven assists.
