Henry Clay (12-4) at Lafayette (11-3)

Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup:  6-4 So. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Sr. Aaron Miller, 6-4 So. Victor Moses, 5-11 Jr. Chase Minnifield, and 6-2 Sr. Aaron Dunaway.  Lafayette coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-3 Sr. Greg Leslie, 5-10 So. Dante Stewart, 6-8 Sr. Tyler Wilkerson, 5-10 So. Tommy Gifford, and 6-1 Sr. Pete Gifford.

Henry Clay outscored Lafayette 18-8 down the stretch to defeat the Generals 87-74 and avenge two earlier losses.  Lafayette led 64-60 in the final quarter but could not match Henry Clay’s last surge.  The Blue Devils hit 17 of 18 free throws and held a commanding 42-28 edge in rebounds.  Lafayette’s Tyler Wilkerson was hampered by foul woes as he picked up his fourth foul with 7:16 remaining in the game and only logged 17:43 minutes for the game.

Henry Clay shot 50% for the game, connected on 24 of 28 free throws, and pulled down 42 rebounds.  The Blue Devils held a 30-12 advantage in second chance points.  Lafayette shot 44.8% from the field, connected on 11 of 14 free throws, and grabbed 28 rebounds.  The Generals held a 16-0 advantage in bench scoring.

Henry Clay enjoyed a balanced attack tonight, led by Aaron Miller with 28 points and nine rebounds.  Aaron Dunaway added 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and no turnovers in 32 minutes.  Aaron Boyd chipped in with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.  Victor Moses recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and stunned the crowd with a vicious one-handed slam off a missed field goal attempt.

Pete Gifford led Lafayette with 19 points and five rebounds.  Tyler Wilkerson added 15 points and seven rebounds in limited minutes, and Dante Stewart chipped in with 10 points.  6-4 Jr. Darrin Williams came off the bench to record 10 points and six rebounds.
