Lexington Catholic (21-1) at Clay County (22-1) 

Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Kellie Cash, 5-7 So. Briana Green, 6-0 Sr. Anaris Sickles, 5-7 Jr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Sr. Nikki Davis.  (Note: 5-10 So. Natalie Novosel was not available for tonight’s game).  Clay County coach Donnie Gray countered with 5-7 Sr. Jayme Gilbert, 5-7 So. Gemma Gray, 5-9 Jr. Maleah Roberts, 5-6 So. Stephanie Jackson, and 5-7 Sr. Page Jackson.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 36-17 halftime lead but had to withstand a 25 point second half barrage by Clay County’s Jayme Gilbert to earn a 66-57 victory.  Clay County outscored Lexington Catholic 20-9 in the third quarter to close the deficit to eight, 45-37, entering the final period.  Gilbert scored 12 points in the third quarter and added 13 points in the final quarter.

Lexington Catholic shot 40.4% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 18 free throws and scored 16 points off 14 Clay County turnovers.  Clay County shot 46.3% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, but was outscored 17-4 on second chance points.

Keyla Snowden led Lexington Catholic with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Briana Green added 16 points and Anaris Sickles chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.  Nikki Davis recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.  6-0 Fr. Malik Stevenson came off the bench to add nine points and seven rebounds.

Jayme Gilbert led Clay County with 30 points and seven rebounds.  Gilbert was 11 of 18 from the field including three of six from the three point line and five of six from the free throw line.  Stephanie Jackson and Maleah Roberts added nine points each.
