Madison Central (20-7) vs. Madison Southern (16-11) (Boys)

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. started the following lineup:  6-4 Jr. Rob Newman, 6-2 Jr. Duane Fields, 6-5 So. Aaron Morris, 6-0 Sr. Matt Lowery, and 5-9 Sr. Andrew Mathis.  Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry countered with 6-2 Jr. Ty Robinson, 6-1 Sr. Bradley Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Zach Sigmon, 6-0 Sr. Justin Marcum, and 6-0 Sr. Casey Hatcher.

Madison Central took a 16-8 lead after the first quarter in a 49-32 victory over Madison Southern.  Madison Central held a 48.6%-31% advantage in field goal shooting accuracy and enjoyed a 7-0 advantage in free throw points.  Madison Southern did not shoot a free throw the entire game.

Madison Central shot 48.6% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on seven of 16 free throws and pulled down 29 rebounds.  Madison Southern shot 31% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles pulled down 25 rebounds and scored 13 points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.

Aaron Morris paced the victors with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Matt Lowery added 13 points including three three point baskets.  6-1 Fr. Keshawn Simpson came off the bench to tally five points and seven rebounds.  Andrew Mathis only scored two points but dished out eight assists.  5-9 Jr. Josey Cruse led Madison Southern with nine points on three three point baskets.  Zach Sigmon chipped in with seven points.

Berea coach Mike Key started the following lineup:  6-0 Sr. Craig Dollins, 6-2 Sr. Jaaron Johns, 6-2 Sr. Keith Ruxer, 5-11 Sr. Trevor Yosick, and 5-10 Sr. Chris Quinley.  Model coach Kent Miller countered with 5-11 Sr. Davis Wells, 6-2 Jr. Quenton Sandwith, 6-3 Sr. Lemarc Harvey, 5-10 Sr. Jeff Johnson, and 5-10 Sr. Hayden Schneider.

Berea outscored Model 17-7 in the second quarter on their way to a 71-64 victory.  Berea shot 50% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on 12 of 14 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Model turnovers.  Model shot 43.9% from the field including six of 20 from the three point line.  The Patriots connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 10 Berea turnovers.

Chris Quinley led Berea with 22 points including three three point baskets, pulled down five rebounds, and dished out five assists.  Jaaron Johns added 19 points and five assists.  Craig Dollins chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.  Jeff Johnson led Model with 21 points including three three point baskets.  Lemarc Harvey added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Davis Wells and Hayden Schneider added 14 and 11 points respectively and pulled down eight and six rebounds respectively.

Madison Central (12-15) vs. Madison Southern (15-11) (Girls)

Madison Central coach Guy Gandolfo started the following lineup:  5-8 Sr. Sasha Turansky, 5-6 Sr. Kandie Warford, 5-8 Sr. Staci Oakley, 5-7 Sr. Janna Anderson, and 5-6 Fr. Lyndsay Jones.  Madison Southern coach Harold Borders countered with 5-7 Jr. Sierra Merida, 5-5 Jr. Tiffany Willis, 5-8 Fr. Brittany Calhoun, 5-5 Jr. Paige McGuire, and 5-2 So. Nikki Jeck.

Madison Central took an early 1-0 lead and led wire-to-wire to defeat Madison Southern 36-31.  Neither team could find their shooting eye but Madison Central scored 18 points off 33 Madison Southern turnovers and recorded 22 steals for the game.

Madison Central shot 25% from the field including a frigid zero for 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and held an 18-8 advantage in bench scoring.  Madison Southern shot 33.3% from the field including one of three from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 14 of 23 free throws and pulled down 31 rebounds.

5-8 Jr. Lyndsey Simmons came off the bench to lead Madison Central with 12 points and five rebounds.  Kandie Warford added 10 points and six rebounds.  Tiffany Willis led Madison Southern with seven points and six rebounds.  Nikki Jeck recorded five points and eight steals.  Sierra Merida chipped in with four points and 10 rebounds.

Berea coach Jerry Bingham started the following lineup:  5-7 Fr. Brittany Harris, 5-9 So. Chelsea Atwater, 5-10 Fr. Elizabeth Horn, 5-6 8th grader Rachel Lanham, and 5-5 Jr. Amanda Thacher.  Model coach Steve Minter countered with 5-8 So. Chelsea Weaver, 5-7 So. Kris Ritter, 5-9 Sr. Kendra Ritter, 5-8 Jr. Lauren Heath, and 5-4 Jr. Kathryn Engle.

Model earned a narrow 42-40 decision over Berea tonight.  Berea raced out to a 12-2 first quarter lead but Model fought back to tie the score 22-22 at halftime.  Berea took a 34-31 lead with 6:22 remaining in the game but Model took the lead for good at 38-36 and held on for the victory.

Model shot 35.4% from the field including three of eight from from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 44.7% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Pirates connected on four of 11 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds.

Kendra Ritter led Model with 25 points, six rebounds, and five steals.  Kathryn Engle and Lauren Heath added eight and six points respectively.  Elizabeth Horn led Berea with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.  Chelsea Atwater added 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Brittany Harris chipped in with 10 points.

Model coach Steve Minter started the following lineup:   5-8 So. Chelsea Weaver, 5-7 So. Kris Ritter, 5-9 Sr. Kendra Ritter, 5-8 Jr. Lauren Heath, and 5-4 Jr. Kathryn Engle.  Madison Central coach Guy Gandolfo countered with 5-8 Sr. Sasha Turansky, 5-6 Sr. Kandie Warford, 5-8 Sr. Staci Oakley, 5-7 Sr. Janna Anderson, and 5-6 Fr. Lyndsay Jones.

Madison Central led 38-21 after three quarters in a 52-42 victory over Model.  Madison Central’s bench outscored Model’s bench 20-3.

Madison Central shot 33.3% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 14 of 16 free throws and pulled down 38 rebounds.  Model shot 33.3% from the field including three of five from the three point line.  The Lady Patriots connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 28 rebounds.

Lyndsay Jones and Kandie Warford led Madison Central with 12 points each.  5-5 8th grader Lesha Farris, 5-10 8th grader Brislyn Sizemore, and 5-8 Jr. Lyndsey Simmons added eight, six, and six points respectively.  Kendra Ritter and Kathryn Engle led Model with 14 and 12 points respectively.  Lauren Heath added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Madison Central scored 31 points off 25 Berea turnovers and held a 31-5 advantage in bench scoring in an 81-40 victory.  Madison Central shot 48.4% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 14 of 20 free throws and pulled down 44 rebounds.  Berea shot 30.4% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Pirates connected on nine of 17 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds.

Andrew Mathis led Madison Central with 19 points including four three point baskets.  Aaron Morris added 10 points and seven rebounds.  Chris Quinley and  Jaaron Jones led led Berea with 13 and 11 points respectively.
