Lexington Catholic (17-1) at Mason County (11-7)  (Girls)

Lexington Catholic coach Jeff Hans started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Natalie Novosel, 5-9 So. Maggie Wilson, 6-0 Sr. Kellie Cash, 5-7 Sr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Jr. Briana Green.  Mason County coach Paula Buser countered with 5-9 Jr. De’Sarae Chambers, 5-7 Sr. Torrey Chambers, 5-8 Fr. Keller Menke, 5-8 Jr. Kasey Litzinger, and 5-7 Jr. Lacey Cline.

Lexington Catholic only led 41-35 at halftime but pulled away in the second half for an 85-60 victory over Mason County.  The victorious Lady Knights scored 25 points off 21 Mason County turnovers and held a 20-8 advantage in second chance points.

Lexington Catholic shot 47.1% from the field including nine of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 10 of 11 free throws and pulled down 37 rebounds.  Lexington Catholic recorded 23 assists and only eight tournovers.  Mason County shot 42.9% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Royals connected on nine of 12 free throws and grabbed 35 rebounds.

Briana Green led the victors with 24 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and five steals.  Green was four of five from beyond the arc.  Maggie Wilson, added 15 points including three three point baskets and five assists.  Natalie Novosel and Keyla Snowden added 14 and 13 points respectively.

De’Sarae Chambers and Lacey Cline led Mason County with 17 points each.  Chambers pulled down eight rebounds and Cline dished out seven assists.  Torrey Chambers chipped in with 11 points.

Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Taylor Stewart, 6-2 Jr. Tyler Corvin, 6-5 Jr. Nathan Novosel, 6-6 Jr. Jordan Smart, and 6-3 Sr. Zach Newton.  Mason County coach Chris O’Hearn countered with 6-4 Sr. Brad Pawsat, 6-5 Jr. Trevor Setty, 6-6 Jr. Darius Miller, 5-8 Sr. Tyreese Scott, and 6-3 So. Russ Middleton.

Mason County defeated Lexington Catholic in a double overtime thriller tonight by a score of 73-68.  Mason County led 43-29 midway through the third quarter but Lexington Catholic managed to battle back and the score was deadlocked 55-55 at the end of regulation.  Lexington Catholic took a 62-59 lead in overtime but Mason County’s Russ Middleton hit a three point basket to tie the score at 62-62 with 57 seconds remaining.  Lexington Catholic had one more shot in the closing seconds but Darius Miller blocked the shot.  Mason County finally pulled away for the victory in the second overtime.

Mason County shot 43.1% from the field including nine of 26 from the three point line.  The Royals connected on 20 of 22 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 40.9% from the field including nine of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on five of six free throws, grabbed 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Mason County turnovers.

Darius Miller led Mason County with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Trevor Setty and Russ Middleton added 17 and 16 points respectively with each connecting on three three point baskets.

Taylor Stewart led Lexington Catholic with 16 points and six rebounds.  Jordan Smart, Tyler Corvin, and Nathan Novosel added 13, 11, and 10 points respectively.  Novosel pulled down eight rebounds.  Zach Newton recorded nine points, six rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
