Huntington (WV) (16-0) at Scott County (18-1)

Huntington High enters the game rated as the number one team in the nation and features two of the best seniors in the country in 6-5 O. J. Mayo and 6-8 Patrick Patterson.  Scott County is ranked as the number one team in the state of Kentucky and features 6-3 Sr. Matt Walls and 6-4 Jr. Bud Mackey

Huntington coach Lloyd McGuffin started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Bruce Senior, 6-5 Sr. O. J. Mayo, 6-8 Sr. Patrick Patterson, 6-0 Sr. Jamaal Williams, and 5-11 Sr. Michael Taylor.  Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Cameron Hundley, 5-10 Sr. Jimmie Warren, 6-7 Jr. Jordan Lee, 6-4 Jr. Bud Mackey, and 6-3 Sr. Matt Walls.

Scott County held on down the stretch to defeat Huntington by a score of 72-68.  Scott County held a 67-64 lead with 25 seconds remaining on the clock but O. J. Mayo recorded a steal.  However, his pass was intercepted by Jordan Lee, who was fouled.  Lee connected on one of two free throws and Matt Walls connected on four free throws in the last 13 seconds to ensure the victory.

Scott County shot 35.6% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 25 Huntington turnovers.  Huntington shot 42.6% from the field including only two of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Highlanders connected on eight of 10 free throws, grabbed 49 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.

Matt Walls led Scott County with 26 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Bud Mackey added 20 points.  Jordan Lee had an excellent game with 17 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.  6-4 Jr. Tyler Portwood recorded 11 points. 

O. J. Mayo led Huntington with 26 points and six steals.  Jamaal Williams added 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Patrick Patterson recorded 12 points on six of eight from the field and pulled down 15 rebounds.
