Scott County (23-1) at Huntington (WV) (18-1)

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Cameron Hundley, 5-10 Sr. Jimmie Warren, 6-7 Jr. Jordan Lee, 6-4 Jr. Bud Mackey, and 6-3 Sr. Matt Walls.  Huntington coach Lloyd McGuffin countered with 6-6 Sr. Bruce Senior, 6-7 Sr. Chris Early, 6-8 Sr. Patrick Patterson, 6-0 Sr. Jamaal Williams, and 5-11 Sr. Michael Taylor.  (Note: 6-5 Sr. O. J. Mayo is currently serving a suspension and will not be available tonight).

Scott County held a 42-41 lead after three quarters but Huntington rallied in the final period to earn a 67-63 victory.  The Highlanders connected on nine of 12 free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory.  Huntington controlled the paint, holding a 42-31 advantage in rebounds and forcing Scott County to settle for outside shots.  The Highlanders also got good performances from their guard combo Jamaal Williams and Michael Taylor.

Huntington shot 48.9% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Highlanders connected on 20 of 33 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 33.3% from the field including 12 of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on nine of 10 free throws, grabbed 31 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 19 Huntington turnovers.

Patrick Patterson led Huntington with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Jamaal Williams added 16 points and six rebounds.  Bruce Senior chipped in with 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Michael Taylor also reached double figures with 11 points.

6-4 Jr. Tyler Portwood led Scott County with 21 points on seven of nine from beyond the arc.  Matt Walls also scored 21 points and recorded four rebounds and five assists.  Bud Mackey chipped in with 12 points.
