Lexington Catholic (3-1) vs. Lafayette (4-0)

Lexington Catholic Coach Jeff Hans started the following lineup:  5-11 Sr. Natalie Novosel, 5-10 Jr. Shaneque McGhee, 6-0 Sr. Lauren Conrad, 5-9 Jr. Maggie Wilson, and 5-8 Sr. Briana Green.  Lafayette Coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Katie Aldrich, 5-9 Sr. Corin Dunn, 5-10 Sr. Kennae Demus, 5-6 So. Ali Ross, and 5-5 Jr. Maya Hanatani

Lexington Catholic defeated Lafayette tonight by a score of 65-59.  Lexington Catholic would run out to an 8-10 point lead but Lafayette would scrap back to narrow the margin.  The Lady Knights led 60-46 in the final quarter before Lafayette battled back to cut the margin to four, 63-59, but could not complete the comeback.  Lafayette was able to keep it close because of their superiority on the boards, holding a 38-21 advantage in rebounds and a 16-3 advantage in second chance points. 

Lexington Catholic shot 49% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 17 free throws and scored 23 points off 22 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 46% from the field and missed their only three point attempt.  The Lady Generals connected on 13 of 16 free throws and scored 11 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers. 

Maggie Wilson led the victors with 20 points including two three point baskets.  Briana Green added 16 points and four steals.  Natalie Novosel recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and four steals.  Novosel was five of eight from the field and five of seven from the free throw line.  Katie Aldrich led Lafayette with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Ali Ross added 12 points.  Corin Dunn chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Kennae Demus recorded six points and 11 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Que' Christian came off the bench to add six points and seven rebounds.
