The 42nd District consists of Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Sayre, and Scott County.  

Tuesday February 26th

Sayre (22-5) vs. Henry Clay (12-13) (Girls)

Sayre Coach Scotty Sutton started the following lineup:  5-9 So. Chanel Minnefield, 5-7 So. Anne MacNeil, 6-3 Sr. Samantha Bowie, 5-6 Charlotte Cornett, and 5-6 Jr. Karly Mitchell.  Henry Clay Coach Scott Cromwell countered with 5-6 Sr. Hanna Blankenship, 5-5 Sr. Raven Price, 5-11 Jr. Brittany Coles, 5-5 Sr. Alex Hamilton, and 5-5 Sr. Demetria Nichols

Henry Clay scored 27 points off 30 Sayre turnovers in a 51-39 victory.   The points scored off turnovers allowed Henry Clay to overcome 25.9% shooting from the field.   Henry Clay held a 58-35 advantage in shots attempted from the field but each team recorded 15 field goals.  

Henry Clay shot 25.9% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.   The Lady Blue Devils connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and held an 11-1 advantage in second chance points.   Sayre shot 42.9% from the field including one of three from beyond the arc.   The Lady Spartans connected on eight of 16 free throws, grabbed 35 rebounds, and scored six points off 15 Henry Clay turnovers.  

Raven Price led Henry Clay with 19 points including three three point baskets.  Demetria Nichols added 12 points.  Brittany Coles chipped in with 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Samantha Bowie led Sayre with 13 points and 14 rebounds.  Chanel Minnefield added 12 points.

Sayre (14-10) vs. Bryan Station (26-2) (Boys)

Sayre Coach Gene Kirk started the following lineup:  5-10 Fr. Cabot Haggin, 6-4 Jr. Tebo Barnett, 6-4 Sr. Quinn Schwartz, 5-11 Jr. Ryan Brady, and 5-9 Jr. Lee Haggin.  Bryan Station Coach Champ Ligon Jr. countered with 6-3 Sr. Dacoby Burnett, 6-1 Jr. Charles Ashford, 6-3 Sr. Terrell Combs, 5-10 Jr. Montell Morones, and 6-3 Sr. Shelvin Mack

Bryan Station easily defeated Sayre by a score of 103-44.   Bryan Station shot 58.7% from the field including nine of 22 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 38 points off 28 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 35.3% from the field including only one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Spartans connected on seven of 15 free throws, grabbed 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Bryan Station turnovers. 

Shelvin Mack led Bryan Station with 27 points including five three point baskets.  Mack also recorded six rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals.  Dacoby Burnett added 23 points.  Charles Ashford chipped in with 16 points and seven assists.  Terrell Combs also reached double figures with 10 points.  Tebo Barnett led Sayre with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Taylor Burgess and Quinn Schwartz added seven points each.

Wednesday February 27th

Bryan Station (8-21) vs. Scott County (15-12) (Girls)

Bryan Station Coach Karra Jackson started the following lineup:  5-9 So. Nealy Williams, 5-10 Jr. Jeannay Washington, 5-11 Sr. Ciera Jackson, 5-6 So. Mikyla Mosby, and 5-3 Fr. Carrington Caise.  Scott County Coach Steve Helton countered with 5-7 So. Sachi Howard, 5-7 Sr. Regan Grimes, 5-11 So. Madisen Webb, 5-9 Fr. Kristen Stainback, and 5-5 Sr. Kayla Moses

Scott County easily defeated Bryan Station by a score of 90-54.   Scott County shot 46.2% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 26 of 36 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 22 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 29.8% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on 18 of 36 free throws, grabbed 46 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Scott County turnovers. 

Kayla Moses led Scott County with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Sachi Howard added 21 points and five assists.  Kristen Stainback chipped in with 20 points.  Madisen Webb also reached double figures with 13 points.  6-0 Fr. Amber Crumbie led Bryan Station with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Nealy Williams added 13 points and six rebounds.

Henry Clay (15-13) vs. Scott County (18-10) (Boys)

Henry Clay Coach Daniel Brown started the following lineup:  6-5 Sr. Aaron Boyd, 5-11 Sr. Josh Oakley, 6-6 Sr. Victor Moses, 5-10 Sr. Brian Nichols, and 5-11 Jr. Prince Stewart.  Scott County Coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-7 Jr. Richie Phares, 6-2 So. Ge-Lawn Guyn, 6-7 Sr. Jordan Lee, 6-1 Sr. Jordan Adams, and 6-5 Sr. Tyler Portwood

Scott County only led Henry Clay 49-48 at the end of three quarters but outscored the Blue Devils 26-14 in the final quarter to earn a 75-62 victory.   Scott County shot 44.2% from the field including two of seven from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 27 of 36 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 35.8% from the field including eight of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on six of 18 free throws, grabbed 33 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 23 Scott County turnovers. 

Ge-Lawn Guyn led Scott County with 21 points and 13 rebounds.  Richie Phares added 15 points and 12 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Cameron Hundley chipped in with 11 points.  Aaron Boyd led Henry Clay with 19 points including three three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Victor Moses added 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Prince Stewart chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  Brian Nichols also reached double figures with 10 points.

Friday February 29th

Scott County Coach Steve Helton started the following lineup:  5-7 So. Sachi Howard, 5-7 Sr. Regan Grimes, 5-11 So. Madisen Webb, 5-9 Fr. Kristen Stainback, and 5-5 Sr. Kayla Moses.  Henry Clay Coach Scott Cromwell countered with 5-6 Sr. Hanna Blankenship, 5-5 Sr. Raven Price, 5-11 Jr. Brittany Coles, 5-5 Sr. Alex Hamilton, and 5-5 Sr. Demetria Nichols

Henry Clay outscored Scott County 25-10 in the second quarter on their way to a 78-68 victory.   Henry Clay shot 43.9% from the field including only two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 26 of 37 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 42.6% from the field including six of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 16 of 24 free throws, grabbed 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Henry Clay turnovers. 

6-2 Sr. Gwen Rucker led Henry Clay with 22 points and 17 rebounds.  Raven Price added 19 points.  Demetria Nichols chipped in with 17 points.  Brittany Coles recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Kayla Moses led Scott County with 29 points.  Kristen Stainback and Madisen Webb added 13 and 12 points respectively.   5-9 Fr. Alex McKenzie pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Scott County (19-10) vs. Bryan Station (27-2) (Boys)  (Championship)

Scott County Coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup:  6-7 Jr. Richie Phares, 6-2 So. Ge-Lawn Guyn, 6-7 Sr. Jordan Lee, 6-1 Sr. Jordan Adams, and 6-5 Sr. Tyler Portwood.  Bryan Station Coach Champ Ligon Jr. countered with 6-3 Sr. Dacoby Burnett, 6-1 Jr. Charles Ashford, 6-3 Sr. Terrell Combs, 5-10 Jr. Montell Morones, and 6-3 Sr. Shelvin Mack

Dacoby Burnett and Shelvin Mack combined for 67 points to lead Bryan Station to a 94-75 victory over Scott County.  

Bryan Station shot 56.6% from the field including eight of 15 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on 16 of 27 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 17 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 52% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 20 of 26 free throws, grabbed 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Bryan Station turnovers. 

Dacoby Burnett led Bryan Station with 35 points including three three point baskets.  Shelvin Mack added 32 points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  Terrell Combs chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds.  Richie Phares led Scott County with 21 points.  Ge-Lawn Guyn and Jordan Adams added 19 and 10 points respectively.

Conclusion

Congratulations to the Bryan Station boys and Henry Clay girls teams for capturing their respective championships.  The champions, and the Scott County boys and girls will advance to the 11th Region tournament.
