Madison took an 18-11 first quarter lead behind three three point bombs by Daniel Parke on their way to a 49-40 victory over South Laurel. Dominique Hawkins and Daniel Parke led the victors with 22 and 11
points respectively.
Matt Slavey, Austin Schaser, and Trent Abner led a balanced South Laurel attack with seven, six, and six
points respectively.

I have attempted to give a capsule report of each game played in this tournament. The statistics mentioned here come from the game scoresheets with some help on the Madison scoresheets from their scorekeeper David Parke. The statistics mentioned here are not meant to be official records but as an indicator for the game and should be close. I apologize in advance for any errors or misspelling of names as I hurriedly went from court to court after each game.
Congratulations to Madison for capturing the championship and to Dominique Hawkins for capturing the MVP trophy. There were excellent teams and players on display this weekend. Although Hawkins was very capable of dominating play as he averaged 19.0 ppg in six games, Madison had several players capable of stepping up in every game. Daniel Parke averaged 10.3 ppg in seven games and dished out 30 assists. A. J. Hammons averaged 7.0 ppg in seven games, George Walker 6.0 ppg in seven games, and Adam Stanford 7.5 ppg in six games. Hawkins was also accurate from the free throw line as he connected on 27 of 33 attempts.
Several of the players on display this weekend are destined to make an impact down the road at the varsity level.
A special thanks to the staff at the Kentucky Basketball Academy (Steve Hatton, Terry Hatton, Mark Ogden, Ken Farley, Eric Armstrong, Marc Hall, etc.) for the hospitality extended me this weekend.
