Franklin-Simpson  (30-3) (Region 4)  vs.  Iroquois  (29-1) (Region 6)

 

Franklin-Simpson coach Lex Lindsey started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Deyonna Nolan, 5-8 Sr. Brittany Payne, 6-0 So. Chastity Gooch, 5-6 Sr. Drea Gooch, and 5-5 Sr. Dominique Cook.  Iroquois coach Al Northington countered with 5-9 Sr. Adia Mathies, 5-5 Sr. Stafonia Taylor, 5-9 Jr. Victoria Brown, 5-5 Sr. Kayla Hickman, and 5-6 Sr. Asia Mathies.

 

Iroquois outscored Franklin-Simpson  10-4 in overtime to earn a 42-36 victory.  Iroquois led 23-14 after three quarters but Franklin-Simpson rallied to outscore Iroquois 18-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.  Franklin-Simpson’s Chastity Gooch scored a basket in the closing seconds of regulation to knot the score at 32-32.

 

Iroquois shot 24.1% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 28 Franklin-Simpson turnovers.  Franklin-Simpson shot 31.4% from the field including four of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wildcats connected on 10 of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 21 Iroquois turnovers.

 

Kayla Hickman led Iroquois with 16 points including four three point baskets.  Adia Mathies added nine points and nine rebounds.  Asia Mathies chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.  Victoria Brown pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

 

Chastity Gooch led Franklin-Simpson with 15 points and 16 rebounds.  Drea Gooch added nine points on three three point baskets.

Montgomery County coach Janie Robinson started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Elizabeth Prewitt, 5-11 Sr. Kayla Webb, 6-3 Jr. Mary Jehlik, 5-10 Jr. Annie Garland, and 5-7 Sr. MacKenzie Lee.  CAL coach Don Rice countered with 5-10 Sr. Hannah Bowman, 5-11 Jr. Anna Hart, 6-2 Jr. Antonita Slaughter, 5-11 Jr. Allison Karst, and 5-11 Sr. Clair Buchanan.

 

MacKenzie Lee scored a last second layup to give Montgomery County a 35-33 victory over Christian Academy of Louisville.  Montgomery County shot 38.9% from the field including one of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 40% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Montgomery County turnovers.

 

MacKenzie Lee and Elizabeth Prewitt led Montgomery County with eight points each.

 

Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 14 points and five rebounds.  Clair Buchanan added six points and six rebounds.

Simon Kenton trailed 29-26 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Breathitt County by a score of 46-37.  Simon Kenton held a 21-9 advantage in three point points.

 

Simon Kenton shot 28.3% from the field including seven of 27 from the three point line.  The Lady Pioneers connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 21 Breathitt County turnovers.  Breathitt County shot 32.4% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on 10 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Simon Kenton turnovers.

 

Chelsea Tolliver led Simon Kenton with 19 points including three three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  Lyndsay Figgins added nine points and seven rebounds.  Sydni Wainscott recorded eight points, four assists, and four steals.

 

Kendall Noble led Breathitt County with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.  Brianna Deaton added nine points on three three point baskets.  Eden Keeton  chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

Casey County defeated Johnson Central by a score of 54-31.  Casey County shot 36.8% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on 23 of 27 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Johnson Central turnovers.  Johnson Central shot only 16.2% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored four points off 16 Casey County turnovers.

 

Megan Pittman led Casey County with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Pittman was six of seven from the field and nine of 11 from the free throw line.  Kayla McFarland added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.  Lauren Hatter also tallied 12 points.

 

Hayley Meek led Johnson Central with eight points.  Celena Conlet, Chelsey Salyers, and Brianns Salyer added five points each.  6-1 Sr. Emily Wireman pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Elizabethtown (30-2) (Region 5)  vs.  Lexington Christian Academy  (29-4) (Region 11)

 

Elizabethtown coach Tim Mudd started the following lineup:  5-10 Sr. Terra Lucas, 5-11 So. Adelaide Luckett, 6-0 Sr. Alex Jones, 5-9 Sr. Dorian Downs, and 5-6 So. Natalie Greenwell.  Lexington Christian Academy coach Jason Seamands countered with 5-10 Sr. Anna Martin, 6-2 Jr. Sarah Beth Barnette, 5-10 Sr. Caitlin Dorton, 5-5 So. Rachel Cox, and 5-11 Sr. Courtney Clifton.

 

Elizabethtown defeated LCA by a score of 56-50.  Elizabethtown led 27-15 at halftime.  LCA outscored Elizabethtown 23-12 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to one; 39-38 entering the final quarter.  Elizabethtown outscored LCA 17-12 in the final quarter to claim the victory.  LCA was only six of 32 from the three point line today as more than half their goal attemptd (32-30) came from beyond the arc.

 

Elizabethtown shot 44.4% from the field including seven of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Panthers connected on 17 of 20 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 30.6% from the field.  The Lady Eagles connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 24 Elizabethtown turnovers.

 

Alex Jones led Elizabethtown with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Natalie Greenwell also tallied 19 points including four three point baskets and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Jones also displayed a deft passing touch as she dished out six assists.

 

Sara Beth Barnette led LCA with 15 points, 11 rebounds, three blocked shots, and five steals.  Anna Martin added 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.  Courtney Clifton recorded 11 points, including three three point baskets.

Boone County defeated a cold shooting Rowan County team (16.7%) by a score of 39-26.  Boone County shot 34.9% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Rowan County turnovers.  Rowan County shot 16.7% from the field including one of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Vikings connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored nine points off 19 Boone County turnovers.

 

Lauren Bowling led Boone County with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Joscelyn Davis added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Caitlin Martin led Rown County with 11 points and five rebounds.  Amber Riddle added eight points and seven rebounds.

Clay County led 26-14 in the second quarter but Ohio County rallied for a 59-56 victory.  Ohio County held a 21-3 advantage in three point points.

 

Ohio County shot 36.7% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 Clay County turnovers.  Clay County shot 51.1% from the field including one of five from beyond the arc.  The lady Tigers connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Ohio County turnovers.

 

Mariah Robinson led Ohio County with 16 points and six rebounds.  Kaley Griffin added 12 points including three three point baskets.  5-6 8th grader Deanna Raley chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.

 

Kayla Smith led Clay County with 13 points.  Jordan Phillips added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.  Whitney Belle Jackson and 5-9 Fr. Sabrina Smith also recorded 12 points each.

Henserson County defeated Marshall County by a score of 53-43.  Henderson County shot 39.6% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Colonels connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Marshall turnovers.  Marshall County shot 31.4% from the field including zero of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Marshalls connected on 11 of 15 free throws,  pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored four points off six Henderson County turnovers.

 

Danielle Dixon led Henderson County with 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Olivia Fruit added 14 points and seven rebounds.  Alyse Poindexter recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

 

Jessica Holder led Marshall County with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Margaret Thomas and Jordan Gilland added nine and eight points respectively.  Hannah Ellis recorded six points and nine rebounds.

 Montgomery County coach Janie Robinson started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Elizabeth Prewitt, 5-11 Sr. Kayla Webb, 6-3 Jr. Mary Jehlik, 5-10 Jr. Annie Garland, and 5-7 Sr. MacKenzie Lee.   Iroquois coach Al Northington countered with 5-9 Sr. Adia Mathies, 5-5 Sr. Stafonia Taylor, 5-9 Jr. Victoria Brown, 5-5 Sr. Kayla Hickman, and 5-6 Sr. Asia Mathies.

 

Iroquois overcame adversity to defeat Montgomery County by a score of 46-37.  Iroquois guard Stafonia Taylor went down early with an injury.  The score was tied 33-33 after three quarters but Iroquois outscored Montgomery County 13-4 in the final quarter.

 

Iroquois shot 36.2% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Montgomery County turnovers.  Montgomery County shot 40% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on three of five free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored only two points off five Iroquois turnovers.

 

Adai Mathies led Iroquois with 14 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  5-8 Sr. Meka Birdsong added 12 points and five rebounds.  5-2 Jr. Carmen Talbott recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.

Casey County pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Simon Kenton 54-44.  Casey County shot 31.6% from the field including thee of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on 27 of 39 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Simon Kenton turnovers.  Simon Kenton shot 27.8% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pioneers connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 Casey County turnovers.

 

Lauren Hatter led Casey County with 15 points.  Megan Pittman added 13 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Nicole Coffman recorded 13 points and six rebounds.

 

Chelsea Tolliver led Simon Kenton with 28 points.  Sydni Wainscott added nine points.  Kayla Smith did not crack the scoring column but pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked four shots.

Elizabethtown raced out to a 23-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 70-54 victory over Boone County.  Elizabethtown shot 53.3% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Panthers connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 22 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 32.7% from the field including nine of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 18 Elizabethtown turnovers.

 

Alex Jones led Elizabethtown turnovers with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Terra Lucas also recorded 14 points.  Dorian Downs added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Adelaide Luckett chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

 

Heather Sandlin led Boone County with 13 points.  Jacy Bradley added 11 points including three three point baskets and dished out seven assists.

Henderson County defeated Ohio County by a score of 64-36.  Henderson County shot 54.3% from the field including four of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Colonels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 23 Ohio County turnovers.  Ohio County shot 31% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 16 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 24 Henderson County turnovers.

 

Olivia Fruit led Henderson County with 18 points, including four of six from the three point line, and eight rebounds.  Ariel Barnes added 15 points and seven rebounds.  Alyse Poindexter recorded 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Krista Norman chipped in with 11 points.

Iroquois scord 25 points off 26 Casey County turnovers in a 52-43 victory.  Iroquois shot 38.3% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 13 of 23 free throws and pulled down 24 rebounds.  Casey County shot 48.5% from the field including zero of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 11 of 12 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off 13 Iroquois turnovers.

 

Adia Mathies led Iroquois with 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Kayla Hickman added 10 points.  Asia Mathies recorded six points, four rebounds, and six steals.

 

Megan Pittman led Casey County with 14 points and six rebounds.  Kayla McFarland added 10 points.  Lauren Hatter chipped in with nine points.

Adelaide Luckett, 6-0 Sr. Alex Jones, 5-9 Sr. Dorian Downs, and 5-6 So. Natalie Greenwell.

 

Elizabethtown broke the game open with a 23-8 advantage in the third quarter in a 57-33 victory over Henderson County.

 

Elizabethtown shot 47.7% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Panthers connected on 10  of 13 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight Henderson County turnovers.  Henderson County shot 25.5% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Colonels connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored thee points off nine Elizabethtown turnovers.

 

Alex Jones led Elizabethtown with 19 points and nine rebounds.  Adelaide Luckett added 12 points.  Dorian Downs chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.

 

Alyse Poindexter led Henderson County with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Olivia Fruit added six points.

Iroquois defeated Elizabethtown 55-47 in overtime.  Iroquois shot 37% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 16 of 28 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Elizabethtown turnovers.  Elizabethtown shot 42.9% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Panthers connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Iroquois turnovers.

 

Asia Mathies led Iroquois with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Meka Birdsong added 12 points.  Adia Mathies recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Kayla Hickman chipped in with 10 points.

 

Alex Jones led Elizabethtown with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  Terra Lucas added 11 points.
