East Carter  (23-5)  (Region 16)  vs.  Warren Central  (22-8)  (Region 4)

 

East Carter coach Brandon Baker started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Caleb Adams, 6-3 Jr. Tyler Clay, 6-7 Sr. Colt Barnhill, 6-2 Sr. Kyle Bair, and 6-0 So. Dylan Genung.  Warren Central coach Tim Riley countered with 6-3 Sr. Shamarcus Wells, 6-1 Sr. Troy Halcomb, 6-7 Jr. George Fant, 5-9 Sr. Jacob King, and 6-0 Jr. Jordan Shanklin.

 

Warren Central outscored East Carter 22-2 in the third quarter on their way to a 55-36 victory.  East Carter took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter but Warren Central rallied to only trail by one point; 21-20 at halftime.  Warren Central held East Carter to 18.55 from the field in the second half and outscored the Raiders 35-15.

 

Warren Central shot 55.6% from the field including four of seven from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 East Carter turnovers.  East Carter shot 33.3% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Raiders connected on five of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Warren Central turnovers.

 

Jordan Shanklin led Warren Central with 16 points including two three point baskets.  Shamarcus Wells and Troy Halcomb added 11 and nine points respectively.

 

Colt Barnhill led East Carter with eight points and nine rebounds.  Dylan Genung added seven points.

Ballard finally pulled away in the final two minutes to defeat Shelby County 90-80 in a thrilling “wild west shootout”.  Shelby County was forced to foul late and lost three starters: Donovan Johnson, Cache Tomlinson, and Norris Beckley Jr. due to fouls.

 

Ballard shot 45.9% from the field including nine of 26 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 25 of 35 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Shelby County turnovers.  Shelby County shot 43.5% from the field including 12 of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Ballard turnovers.

 

Keisten Jones led Ballard with 30 points including five three point baskets and connected on nine of 10 free throws.  Ian Chiles added 19 points including two three point baskets.  Devante Parker chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds.

 

Darryl Hicks led Shelby County with 30 points including six three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  Cache Tomlinson added 20 points including five three point baskets.  Norris Beckley Jr. chipped in wirh 14 points.  Donovan Johnson recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Christian County pulled away in the second half to defeat Newport by a score of 70-51.  Christian County shot 50.9% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 19 Newport turnovers.  Newport shot 43.5% from the field including seven of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Christian County turnovers.

 

Donovan Kates led Christian County with 22 points including three three point baskets.  Anthony Hickey added 20 points and seven rebounds.

 

Demarko Foster led Newport with 21 points including three three point baskets.  Casey McDaniel added 10 points and six rebounds.

Scott County pulled away in the second half to defeat Corbin by a score of 68-49.  Scott County shot 42.1% from the field including five of nine from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 21 Corbin turnovers.  Corbin shot 42.2% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc.  The Redhounds connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored eight points off 16 Scott County turnovers.

 

Dakotah Euton led Scott County with 21 points and seven rebounds.  Chad Jackson added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Ge-Lawn Guyn chipped in with 12 points.  6-4 Jr. Tanner Shotwell came off the bench to add eight points and five rebounds.

 

Madison Johnson led Corbin with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Isaac Wilson added nine points and five assists.

Muhlenberg County coach Reggie Warford started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Grant Warford, 6-4 Sr. Joe Gabbard, 6-8 So. Lemon Gregory, 5-8 Sr. Josh Hawkins, and 6-1 So. Tiger Warford.  West Jessamine coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-2 Sr. David Elliott, 6-2 Sr. Gus Sherrow, 6-4 Jr. Dylan Pohl, 5-9 Sr. Kyle Mefford, and 6-3 Sr. Jarrod Polson.

 

West Jessamine led by two points; 64-62 late in the game but closed out the game with a 9-1 run to earn a 73-63 victory over Muhlenberg County.  West Jessamine led 53-41 after three quarters but Muhlenberg County rallied to make it interesting down the stretch.

 

West Jessamine shot 59% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on 23 of 40 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 11 Muhlenberg County turnovers.  Muhlenberg County shot 36.1% from the field including five of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Mustangs connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 West Jessamine turnovers.  Muhlenberg County attempted 22 more shots from the field (61-39) than West Jessamine.

 

Jarrod Polson led West Jessamine with 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  David Elliott added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Gus Sherrow chipped in with 10 points.

 

Joe Gabbard led Muhlenberg County with 22 points and five rebounds.  Josh Hawkins, 5-9 Jr. Michael Civils, and Tiger Warford added 10, nine, and eight points respectively.

Shelby Valley defeated Paducah Tilghman by a score of 68-45.  Shelby Valley shot 50% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 19 Paducah Tilghman turnovers.  Paducah Tilghman shot 36.4% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Tornado connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Shelby Valley turnovers.

 

Taylor Newsome led Shelby Valley with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Newsome was 10 of 13 from the field including one of one from the three point line and one of two from the free throw line.  Elisha Justice added 21 points including three three point baskets and dished out nine assists and pulled down six rebounds.  Tyler Newsome chipped in with 15 points including three three point baskets.

 

Josh Forrest led Paducah Tilghman with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Johny Harmon added 10 points.

Jordan Gilbert hit a runner in the lane with approximately four seconds left in overtime to give Mason County a 58-56 victory over North Hardin.  Mason County led 17-7 after the first quarter but North Hardin rallied to force overtime.

 

Mason County shot 36.8% from the field including only one of 12 from the three point line.  The Royals connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 North Hardin turnovers.  North Hardin shot 41.7% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Trojans connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Mason County turnovers.

 

Jordan Gilbert, Bradley Lang, and Justin Lang led Mason County with 12, 12, and 10 points respectively.  Rheuben Bluford added nine points and 14 rebounds.

Knott County Central could not get their long range shots to fall tonight and was defeated 57-46 by Butler.  Butler led 30-17 at halftime but Knott County Central rallied to only trail 36-35 entering the final quarter.  However Butler pulled away for good in the final period.

 

Butler shot 49% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Bears connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Knott County Central turnovers.  Knott County Central shot 32.1% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Butler turnovers.

 

Thomas Blakemore Jr. led Butler with 17 points.  6-0 Jr. Demetrius Butler and 5-11 Fr. Demetrius McReynolds added 13 and 11 points respectively.  Darius Stone pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

 

Stuart Stamper led Knott County Central with 10 points including two three point baskets.  6-4 Jr. Mikey Slone, Tate Cox, and Zack Davis added nine, eight, and seven points respectively.  Davis also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Ian Chiles banked in a three point shot at the buzzer to give Ballard a 62-59 victory over Warren Central. Warren Central got off to a slow start and trailed 15-1 after the first quarter. Ballard led 47-33 after three quarters but Warren Central mounted a furious comeback aided by several missed free throws by Ballard down the stretch.  The Dragons finally tied the game at 59-59 on a basket by George Fant with five seconds remaining on the clock setting the stage for Chiles’ game winning basket.

 

Ballard shot 37.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Warrwn Central turnovers.  Warren Central shot 45.5% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on 17 of 30 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Ballard turnovers.

 

Ian Chiles led Ballard with 23 points including five three point baskets.  Tyrell Means added 11 points.

 

Troy Halcomb led Warren Central with 18 points.  George Fant added 15 points and eight rebounds.  Jordan Shanklin chipped in with 10 points.  Shamarcus Wells pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Scott County rallied from a 54-49 deficit in the final quarter to defeat Christian County by a score of 69-64.  Dakotah Euton, Ge-Lawn Guyn, Tanner Shotwell, and Tamron Manning all fouled out for Scott County with several of the fouls coming trying to stop penetration by jet-quick Anthony Hickey.  Chad Jackson also proved to be impossible to stop from getting to the rim for the victorious Cardinals.

 

Scott County shot 54% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Christian County turnovers.  Christian County shot 40.4% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 23 of 35 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

 

Chad Jackson led Scott County with 26 points and 11 rebounds.  Jackson was 10 of 11 from the field and six of 11 from the free throw line.  Dakotah Euton added 12 points and nine rebounds.  Austin Flannery chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.  Ge-Lawn Guyn also reached double figures with 10 points.

 

Anthony Hickey led Christian County with 26 points.  5-10 Sr. Trey Gayle and Donovan Kates added nine and eight points respectively.

Shelby Valley trailed 26-24 at halftime but rallied after the intermission to defeat West Jessamine by a score of 67-54.  Shelby Valley shot 42.9% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off eight West Jessamine turnovers.  West Jessamine shot 39.2% from the field including eight of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off five Shelby Valley turnovers.

 

Elisha Justice led Shelby Valley with 28 points including three three point baskets.  Taylor Newsome added 16 points and eight rebounds.  Ashley Hatfield recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.

 

Jarrod Polson led West Jessamine with 25 points including four three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.  Gus Sherrow and Dylan Pohl added nine and eight points respectively.

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson, 6-3 Jr. Austin Flannery, 6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton, 6-2 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn, and 6-3 So. Tamron Manning.  Ballard coach Chris Renner countered with 6-3 Sr. Keisten Jones, 6-3 Jr. Devante Parker, 6-0 Sr. Drew Hardin, 6-1 Sr. Ian Chiles, and 5-11 Sr. Tyrell Means.

 

Ballard pulled away late in the game to defeat Scott County by a score of 67-62.  The score was tied 12 times and there were 13 lead changes.  Scott County’s achilles’ heel was once again foul woes as Chad Jackson, Austin Flannery, and Tanner Shotwell all fouled out today.  Chad Jackson was limited to 18 minutes of playing time and fouled out with 6:39 remaining in the game.

 

Ballard shot 44.2% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 23 of 30 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 46.9% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Ballard turnovers.

 

Ian Chiles led Ballard with 20 points and six rebounds.  Keisten Jones added 17 points including four three point baskets.  Tyrell Means also recorded 17 points.

 

Ge-Lawn Guyn led Scott County with 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Chad Jackson added 14 points on six of seven from the field and two of four from the free throw line.  Dakotah Euton recorded 14 points and five rebounds.

Shelby Valley raced out to a 22-11 first quarter lead on their way to a 71-51 victory over Mason County.  Shelby Valley shot 52.1% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Mason County turnovers.  Mason County shot 38.9% from the field including six of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Royals connected on three of five free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Shelby Valley turnovers.

 

Elisha Justice led Shelby Valley with 31 points including five three point baskets.  Justice was 10 of 16 from the field including five of six from the three point line and six of six from the free throw line.  Ashley Hatfield added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Jordan Gilbert led Mason County with 15 points including three three point baskets.  Justin Lang added 10 points including two three point baskets.

Shelby Valley pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Ballard by a score of 73-61.  The Wildcats led by 14 points in the second quarter but Ballard scrapped back and entered the final quarter trailing by three points: 50-47.  Shelby Valley outscored Ballard 23-14 in the final quarter to claim the championship.

 

Shelby Valley shot 41.4% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 21 of 23 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 41.7% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Bruins connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Shelby Valley turnovers.

 

Ashley Hatfield led Shelby Valley with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.  Taylor Newsome added 17 points and nine rebounds.  Elisha Justice also recorded 17 points.  Cody Varney recorded 13 points and six rebounds.

 

Ian Chiles led Ballard with 23 points.  Keisten Jones added 17 points.  Tyrell Means recorded 15 points and nine rebounds.
