Jeffersontown (23-4)  vs.  Fern Creek (15-12)

 

Jeffersontown coach John Kyser started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Kendall Downing, 5-7 Sr. Aisjah Roan, 6-2 Sr. Lenette Holt, 5-5 Jr. Danielle Betts, and 5-6 So. Christy Calderon.  Fern Creek coach Michelle Fries countered with 5-9 Sr. Holly Bernard, 5-6 So. Dawn Plemmons, 6-4 Sr. Teonia McCune, 5-7 So. Rau Jau’ Terry, and 5-3 Sr. Asia Grigsby.

 

Jeffersontown defeated Fern Creek by a score of 66-53.  Jeffersontown shot 42.9% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 12 of 13 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Fern Creek turnovers.  Fern Creek shot 35.7% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Jeffersontown turnovers.

 

Aisjah Roan led Jeffersontown with 23 points including three three point baskets, pulled down 10 rebounds, and added four assists and five steals.  Lenette Holt added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Holt was seven of eight from the field and three of four from the free throw line.  Danielle Betts chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

 

Rau Jau’ Terry added Fern Creek with 24 points and six rebounds.  Teonia McCune added 15 points, 15 rebounds, and six blocked shots.

Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Emily Goetz, 5-7 So. Whitney Hartlage, 5-10 Jr. Christine Roush, 5-5 Sr. Lauren Faris, and 5-8 Sr. Juliann Miller.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-11 Sr. Annamarie Campbell, 5-11 Sr. Monica McGreal, 5-10 Sr. Morgan Clemons, 5-5 Sr. Hannah Washle, and 5-4 Sr. Maddie Peabody.

 

Mercy Academy led 22-18 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to defeat Sacred Heart Academy by a score of 67-48.  Mercy shot 36.7% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 29 of 36 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored nine points off 17 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 33.3% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Mercy turnovers.  Morgan Clemons, Monica McGreal, and Hannah Washle all fouled out for Sacred Heart.

 

5-11 Jr. Courtney Roush led Mercy with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Juliann Miller also scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds.  Lauren Faris and Whitney Hartlage chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively.  Emily Goetz recorded seven points and 11 rebounds.

 

Maddie Peabody led Sacred Heart with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Monica McGreal added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Hannah Washle also scored 10 points.

Dee Dee Sliter.  duPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton countered with 6-1 So. Kayla Styles, 5-11 Jr. Kara Wright, 5-10 Sr. Mechael Guess, 5-8 Jr. April Wilson, and 5-7 Jr. LeAsia Wright.

 

Manual scored 32 points off 25 Assumption turnovers in an 85-59 victory.  Manual shot 55.2% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and held a 31-17 advantage in bench scoring.  Assumption shot 42.6% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored eight points off 12 Manual turnovers.

 

Mechael Guess led Manual with 23 points and six rebounds.  April Wilson added 12 points, six assists, and three steals.  Kara Wright chipped in with 10 points.

 

Morgan Foley led Assumption with 14 points.  Dee Dee Sliter added 12 points.  Katie Friedrich recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Ballard coach Steve Kaufman started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Alexus Colbert, 6-0 Fr. Javonna Layfield, 6-3 Sr. Ciera Woods, 5-5 Sr. Porscha Saunders, and 5-5 Jr. Melena Shanklin.  Christian Academy of Louisville coach Don Rice countered with 5-8 Jr. Megan Brown, 5-7 So. Kate Joss, 5-8 Jr. Paige Gardner, 5-6 Jr. Katie Shaheen, and 5-9 So. China Dow.

 

CAL led 30-20 at halftime but Ballard rallied to earn a 63-56 victory.  Ballard outscored CAL 19-8 in the third quarter to take a 39-38 lead after three quarters.  CAL was plagued by foul woes today as China Dow and Katie Shaheen both fouled out.

 

Ballard shot 48.9% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady bruins connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 27 CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 45.5% from the field including eight of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 25 Ballard turnovers.

 

Javonna Layfield led Ballard with 24 points and eight rebounds.  Layfield was 10 of 14 from the field and four of four from the free throw line.  Jaylan Bodiford added 20 points and eight rebounds.  Bodiford was seven of nine from the field and six of eight from the free throw line.

 

China Dow led CAL with 20 points including four three point baskets.  Dow recorded four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Paige Gardner added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Kate Joss chipped in with 12 points including two three point baskets.

Mercy Academy led 25-20 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 64-44 victory over Jeffersontown.  Mercy shot 45.3% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 29 Jeffersontown turnovers.  Jeffersontown shot 41% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored seven points off 23 Mercy turnovers.

 

Christine Roush led Mercy with 14 points and six rebounds.  Whitney Hartlage also scored 14 points including four three point baskets.  Juliann Miller also recorded 14 points.

 

Danielle Betts led Jeffersontown with 14 points and seven rebounds.  Lenette Holt added 13 points.

duPont Manual raced out to a 19-2 first quarter lead on their way to a 51-33 victory over Ballard.  Manual shot 44.2% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 25% from the field including zero of three from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bruins connected on 13 of 28 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Manual turnovers.

 

LeAsia Wright led Manual with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Kara Wright added 16 points.

 

Javonna Layfield led Ballard with nine points and nine rebounds.  Porscha Saunders also scored nine points.  Jaylan Bodiford recorded eight points and seven rebounds.

duPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Kayla Styles, 5-11 Jr. Kara Wright, 5-10 Sr. Mechael Guess, 5-3 Sr. Raven Hester, and 5-7 Jr. LeAsia Wright.  Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-8 Sr. Emily Goetz, 5-7 So. Whitney Hartlage, 5-10 Jr. Christine Roush, 5-5 Sr. Lauren Faris, and 5-8 Sr. Juliann Miller.

 

duPont Manual led 40-25 in the third quarter but had to rally from a 52-50 deficit with 45 seconds remaining in the game to earn a 55-52 decision over Mercy Academy.  Mechael Guess tied the score at 52-52 with a field goal with 32 seconds remaining in the game.  Kara Wright recorded a steal and hit one of two free throws to give Manual a 53-52 lead with 18 seconds remaining on the clock.  Mercy turned the ball over and Mechael Guess hit two insurance free throws with four seconds remaining in the game.

 

Manual shot 42% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Mercy turnovers.  Mercy shot 36.5% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 19 manual turnovers.

 

Mechael Guess led Manual with 25 points and seven rebounds.  Guess was 10 of 16 from the field and five of six from the free throw line.  Kayla Styles added seven points and nine rebounds.  Kara Wright chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds. Raven Hester recorded six points and six assists.

 

Juliann Miller led Mercy with 15 points.  Emily Goetz added 13 points.  Lauren Faris chipped in with 11 points including two three point baskets.
