Atherton ((4-20)  vs.  Sacred Heart Academy (16-12)

 

Atherton coach Melissa Earley started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Sharon Walker, 5-4 Jr. Shelby O’Leary, 5-8 So. Mary Oetken, 5-6 Jr. Addison Murphy, and 5-6 Jr. Latascha Taylor.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-9 So. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-6 So. Raven Merriweather, 6-1 Sr. Jazmin Smith, 5-7 Jr. Kristin Matula, and 5-7 Sr. Jade Tubb.

 

Sacred Heart Academy scored 30 points off 34 Atherton turnovers in a 59-23 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 48.1% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and held a 24-4 advantage in bench scoring.  Atherton shot 22% from the field including one of six from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 19 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Raven Merriweather added 11 points, five rebounds, and seven steals.  5-4 Fr. Ashley Johnson chipped in with eight points on four of four from the field. 

 

Addison Murphy led Atherton with nine points and five rebounds.  Sharon Walker added six points and four rebounds.  5-6 Fr. Jasmine Lewis chipped in with four points and seven rebounds.

Waggener coach Maurice Ponder started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Jazmine Richardson-Huston, 5-6 So. Jada Jackson, 6-2 Fr. Alexandria Peden, 5-4 So. Mary Burton, and 5-5 Jr. Destiny Lamb.  Seneca coach Latasha Peterson countered with 6-0 Jr. Sabrina Jackson, 5-9 Jr. Niya Anderson, 6-1 Jr. Kearra Pennie, 5-5 Fr. Kadiesha Fant, and 5-7 So. Brandee Moore.

 

Seneca defeated Waggener by a score of 71-61.  Seneca shot 48.1% from the field including four of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Redhawks connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Waggener turnovers.  Waggener shot 35.4% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wildcats connected on only nine of 25 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 23 Seneca turnovers.

 

Kearra Pennie led Seneca with 22 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Niya Anderson added 16 points, five assists, and three steals.  Sabrina Jackson chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Jada Grady recorded 13 points including two three point baskets and four assists.

 

Alexandria Peden led Waggener with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Destiny Lamb added 13 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Jada Jackson chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  5-6 Sr. Carlesha Rice recorded 10 points and six assists.

Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 So. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-6 Sr. Erica Walsh, 6-1 Sr. Jazmin Smith, 5-7 Jr. Kristin Matula, and 5-7 Sr. Jade Tubb.  Seneca coach Latasha Peterson countered with 6-0 Jr. Sabrina Jackson, 5-9 Jr. Niya Anderson, 6-1 Jr. Kearra Pennie, 5-5 Fr. Kadiesha Fant, and 5-8 Jr. Jada Grady.

 

Sacred Heart Academy outscored Seneca 29-3 in the second quarter in a 75-39 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 48.4% from the field including four of nine from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on nine of 20 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 36 points off 33 Seneca turnovers.  Seneca shot 34.7% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Redhawks connected on one of seven free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored eight points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

DaiJia Ruffin led Scared Heart with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.  Ruffin was seven of eight from the field and three of six from the free throw line.  Erica Walsh added 11 points and five steals.  5-6 So. Raven Merriweather recorded 10 points, three assists, and four steals.  Jazmin Smith chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

 

Sabrina Jackson led Seneca with 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Kearra Pennie added nine points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and five blocked shots.  Niya Anderson and Jada Grady also scored nine points each.
