Lexington Christian Academy vs. Tates Creek (Girls)

 

Lexington Christian Academy coach Nick Cann started the following lineup: 5-8 Fr. Haley Strunk, 5-7 8th Grade Faith Osbourne, 5-9 Sr. Claire Panter, 5-6 8th Grade Grace Combs, and 5-6 So. Sydney Weeks.  Tates Creek coach Tina Winn countered with 5-8 Sr. Hannah Hamill, 5-6 Jr. Saytara Wilson, 5-8 Sr. Myra Brown, 5-5 Sr. Lori Nsimpasi, and 5-6 So. Dasia Woods,

 

Tates Creek led 45-28 early in the final quarter but Lexington Christian Academy finished the game on a 21-3 run to earn a 49-48 victory.  Lexington Christian Academy shot 27.9% from the field including four of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 23 Tates Creek turnover.  Tates Creek shot 35.7% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 16 Lexington Christian Academy turnovers.

 

Sydney Weeks led LCA with 23 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  Grace Combs added 15 points, six rebounds, and five steals.  Hayley Strunk recorded eight points and 11 rebounds.

 

5-8 Fr. Oriana Woods led Tates Creek with 15 points.  5-6 Jr. Lauren Miller added 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Myra Brown recorded nine points and 10 rebounds.

Lafayette vs. Tates Creek (Boys)

 

Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Lucky Jackson, 5-10 So. Jajuante Carpenter, 6-6 Jr. Ross Jenkins, 5-9 Jr. Jaelin Jenkins, and 6-0 Jr. Harrison Lane.  Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-3 So. Robert Gardner, 6-0 Sr. Darius Barksdale, 6-6 Sr. Jordan Fucci, 6-1 Sr. Desmond Duke, and 6-1 Sr. Trey Sturdivant.

 

Lafayette defeated Tates Creek by a score of 67-55.  Lafayette shot 37.9% from the field including seven of 24 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 38.3% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored seven points off five Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ross Jenkins led Lafayette with 20 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Harrison Lane added 12 points including three three point baskets and six assists.  Lucky Jackson recorded 11 points and six rebounds.  Jajuante Carpenter chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. TJ Downey added nine points.

 

6-5 So. Isaiah Patterson led Tates Creek with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Patterson was six of seven from the field and four of five from the free throw line.  Jordan Fucci added 13 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Desmond Duke recorded 13 points and seven assists.  Trey Sturdivant chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds.

Paul Laurence Dunbar vs. Lexington Catholic (Girls)

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Sara Bridenbaugh started the following lineup; 5-10 So. Autumn Herriford, 5-8 Fr. Peyton Humphreys, 5-10 Sr. Nicole Armstrong, 5-4 Fr. Mashayla Cecil, and 5-7 Sr. Kristina Rosen.  Lexington Catholic coach Scott True countered with 5-9 Sr. Rachel Blake, 5-8 Jr. Sarah Bonn, 5-9 Sr. Caroline Lynch, 5-2 Sr. Bailey Browning, and 5-6 Jr. Caroline Osbourn.

 

Lexington Catholic trailed 40-39 but finished the game on an 8-0 run to defeat Paul Laurence Dunbar by a score of 47-40.  Lexington Catholic shot 43.3% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 27 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 15 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 45.7% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Caroline Lynch led Lexington Catholic with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Bailey Browning added 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Rachel Blake chipped in with seven points.

 

5-4 Jr. Ezhaunnai Ighodaro led Dunbar with 14 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three assists.  6-0 Sr. Merissa Marrow added 10 points.

Taveion Hollingsworth.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Reese Ryan, 6-5 Sr. Walker Boothe, 5-10 Sr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Sr. Jarod Griffin.

 

Lexington Catholic trailed 49-45 with three minutes left in the game but rallied for a 55-51 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar.  There were seven ties and 10 lead changes in this game.  Lexington Catholic shot 42.9% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 35.3% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Michael Talbott led Lexington Catholic with 17 points and six rebounds.  Tanner Johnson added 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Jarod Griffin recorded nine points and three assists.  6-0 Jr. Donovan Morris chipped in with seven points.  Walker Boothe added six points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Reese Ryan recorded five points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

 

Taveion Hollingsworth led Dunbar with 19 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four assists.  Darius Williams added 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Dontell Brown pulled down nine rebounds and blocked two shots.

Sydney Weeks.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Dee Givens, 5-9 Jr. Aisha Conwell, 6-4 Sr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-3 So. Lataya Winn, and 5-11 So. Kiara Pankins.

 

Lafayette outscored Lexington Christian Academy 23-1 in the second quarter on their way to a 70-25 victory.  Lafayette’s defense forced 31 turnovers and recorded 20 steals.  Lafayette shot 49.2% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  They attempted 28 more shots (63-35) from the field than Lexington Christian Academy.  The Lady Generals connected on four of 11 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 40 points off 31 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 22.9% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Dee Givens added 15 points, six rebounds. four assists, and three steals.  Kiara Pankins recorded 14 points including two three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Lataya Winn recorded six steals.

 

Grace Combs led LCA with 12 points including two three point baskets.  Hayley Strunk added four points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

Lexington Christian Academy led 17-10 early in the second quarter but Lafayette rallied for a 49-47 victory.  Lexington Christian Academy had a chance to tie the game but Tre King missed a contested layup in the closing second of the game.  Lafayette shot 45.9% from the field including six of 12 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 40% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Lucky Jackson led Lafayette with 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Harrison Lane added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Jajuante Carpenter recorded eight points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  5-9 Jr. TJ Downey chipped in with seven points.  Ross Jenkins recorded five points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

 

Matt Rose led LCA with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.  Drew Trimble added nine points.  Kyle Rode recorded seven points, six rebounds, and five assists.  6-6 So. Tre King chipped in with six points and four rebounds.

Lafayette outscored Lexington Catholic 19-4 in the third quarter to pull away for a 49-32 victory.  Lafayette shot 47.4% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 19 Points off 15 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 22.6% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 13 points including two three point baskets and five steals.  Kiara Pankins added 12 points including two three point baskets.  Ashanti Thomas recorded eight points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and four steals.  5-8 So. Kendyl Powell chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.

 

Rachel Blake led Lexington Catholic with six points and four rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Tori Pippen also scored six points.  Sarah Bonn recorded five points and six rebounds.  Bailey Browning and Caroline Osbourn also scored five points each.

Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Lucky Jackson, 5-10 So. Jajuante Carpenter, 6-6 Jr. Ross Jenkins, 5-9 Jr. Jaelin Jenkins, and 6-0 Jr. Harrison Lane.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Reese Ryan, 6-5 Sr. Walker Boothe, 5-10 Sr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Sr. Jarod Griffin.

 

Jarod Griffin nailed a three point basket from the wing with 1:30 left in the third overtime to give Lexington Catholic a 50-49 triple overtime victory over Lafayette.  There were six lead changes and 12 ties in this game.  Lexington Catholic held a 43-39 lead with 1:20 left in regulation but two free throws by Lucky Jackson and a layup by TJ Downey with 49 seconds left knotted the score at 43-43.  Lexington Catholic’s Michael Talbott missed a field goal attempt in the closing second missed forcing overtime.  The first overtime ended with the score tied 47-47.  The second overtime went scoreless and the score remained 47-47.  Harrison Lane hit two free throws to give Lafayette a 49-47 lead with 2:10 left in the third overtime but this was quickly answered by Griffin’s three pointer which proved to be the winning points.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 36.2% from the field including five of 21 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 34.5% from the field including four of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on seven of 15 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Jarod Griffin led Lexington Catholic with 17 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  Tanner Johnson added 15 points including two three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Reese Ryan chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.  Michael Talbott dished out six assists.

 

Ross Jenkins led Lafayette with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Harrison Lane added nine points and four assists.  Jajuante Carpenter recorded eight points, five rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 Jr. TJ Downey chipped in with seven points.  Lucky Jackson recorded six points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
