Rowan County vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar

 

Rowan County coach Elaine Douglas started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Allyson Callahan, 5-7 So. Angela Marcum, 6-0 Jr. Kyra Jones, 5-5 Fr. Brooke Blevins, and 5-5 Jr. Kammie Rose.  Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Nick Runyon countered with 5-11 Sr. Autumn Herriford, 5-8 So. Cheyenne Fullwood, 5-9 Jr. Peyton Humphreys, 5-6 Jr. Mashayla Cecil, and 5-9 Jr. Anaiyah Cotton.

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar shot a sizzling 72.7% from the field in the first half and led 40-25 at halftime on their way to a 59-48 victory over Rowan County.  Dunbar shot 58.1% from the field including eight of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on one of four free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Rowan County turnovers.  Rowan County shot 38% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Vikings connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Dunbar turnovers.

 

Mashayla Cecil led Dunbar with 24 points including four three point baskets and eight assists.  Autumn Herriford added 21 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and three blocked shots. 

 

Allyson Callahan led Rowan County with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Angela Marcum added 10 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.  Kyra Jones recorded eight points and six rebounds.

Muhlenberg County outscored Montgomery County 18-5 in the second quarter on their way to a 50-41 victory.  Muhlenberg County shot 30.8% from the field including zero of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Mustangs connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Montgomery County turnovers.  Montgomery County shot 31.1% from the field including five of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Muhlenberg County turnovers.

 

Alaira Drake led Muhlenberg County with 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Erica Cary added 10 points and nine rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Destin Armour recorded 10 points including six of eight free throws, three assists, and two steals.

 

Delaney Bromagen led Montgomery County with 20 points including four three point baskets and three steals.  Kaitlyn Barber added 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Makayla Harris recorded six points, nine rebounds, and two steals.

Simon Kenton defeated Boyd County by a score of 66-45.  Simon Kenton shot 46.3% from the field including six of 23 from the three point line.  The Lady Pioneers connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 17 Boyd County turnovers.  Simon Kenton held an 18-2 advantage in second effort points and a 29-4 advantage in bench points.  Boyd County shot 34% from the field including six of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Lions connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Simon Kenton turnovers.

 

Shelby Harmeyer led Simon Kenton with 14 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists.  6-2 Sr. Madi Meier added 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Allyson Niece recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  5-4 Sr. Kendyl Gilliam chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets.

 

Savannah Wheeler led Boyd County with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Hunter Reeves added 12 points on four three point baskets and three rebounds.  Payton Shears chipped in with 10 points.  Charity Shears recorded five points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Anna Clephane led Scott with 24 points including 12 of 16 free throws, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Alexis Stapleton added 14 points including two three point baskets.  Summer Secrist recorded nine points, four assists, and three steals.
