Graves County (27-7) vs. Bowling Green (32-2)

 

Graves County coach Josh Frick started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Brenden Young, 6-2 Jr. Trevor Grant, 7-0 Sr. Chris Vogt, 5-11 Sr. Brady Wetherington, and 6-2 So. Jordyn Naranjo.  Bowling Green coach DG Sherrill countered with 6-6 Sr. Terry Taylor, 5-10 Jr. Jay Buser, 6-6 Sr. Kyran Jones, 5-10 8th Grade Zion Harmon, and 5-10 Sr. Deangelo Wilson.

 

Bowling Green outscored Graves County 20-8 in the third quarter on their way to a 68-51 victory.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Bowling Green shot 43.6% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Purples connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Graves County turnovers.  Graves County shot 40.4% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off five Graves County turnovers.

 

Terry Taylor led Bowling Green with 20 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.  Zion Harmon added 17 points including three three point baskets and three steals.  Kyran Jones recorded nine points and 11 rebounds.

 

Jordyn Naranjo led Graves County with 11 points including five of six free throws.  Chris Vogt added eight points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Trevor Grant also scored eight points.  Brady Wetherington chipped in with seven points.

Perry County Central outscored Pikeville 17-7 in the third quarter on their way to a 61-46 victory.  Perry County Central’s overwhelming size advantage gave them a 44-21 advantage on the boards.  Perry County central shot 54.3% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on seven of 15 free throws and scored eight points off 11 Pikeville turnovers.  Pikeville shot 30.8% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 11 of 17 free throws and scored 11 points off 21 Perry County Central turnovers.

 

Damon Tobler led Perry County Central with 12 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.  Austin Hill also scored 12 points.  Princewill Anosike recorded 10 points, 15 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Idris Akenyemi added 10 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Noah Back chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets and four assists.

 

Cade Byers led Pikeville with eight points.  Wyatt Battaile added seven points, six rebounds, three assists, and six steals.

Harlan County did not have an answer for a sensational performance by Scott’s Jake Ohmer tonight as Scott defeated the Black Bears by a score of 77-65.  Ohmer tallied 41 points and was lethal from all over the floor.  Scott shot 48.9% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 24 of 37 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Harlan County turnovers.  Harlan County shot 37.9% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Black Bears connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Scott turnovers.

 

Jake Ohmer led Scott with 41 points including five three point baskets, 10 of 12 free throws, 17 rebounds, and four steals.  6-1 Sr. Vincent Dumlao added 11 points including two three point baskets. 

 

Cameron Carmical led Harlan County with 25 points including 10 of 12 free throws, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Tyrese Simmons added 14 points and nine rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Gabe Price recorded 12 points and four rebounds.

Scott County led 26-23 at halftime but outscored Pulaski Coun ty 57-31 in the second half on their way to an 83-54 victory.  Scott County shot 53% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 18 Pulaski County turnovers.  Scott County attempted 23 more shots (66-43) from the field than Pulaski County.  Pulaski County shot 39.5% from the field including 10 of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Maroons connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Cooper Robb led Scott County with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocked shots, and five steals.  Michael Moreno added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.  Bryce Long recorded 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals.  Cooper Watts chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.

 

Steven Fitzgerald led Pulaski County with 19 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds.  Hagan Elmore added eight points including two three point baskets.

Fern Creek shot 62.5% from the field including one of seven from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on 20 of 29 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Hopkinsville turnovers.  Hopkinsville shot 37.7% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 20 of 29 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Fern Creek turnovers.

 

Chance Moore led Fern Creek with 21 points and four assists.  Ahmad Price added 12 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.  6-4 Jr. Clint Wickliffe recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Ballard converted 27 Taylor County turnovers into 31 points in a 69-33 victory.  Ballard shot 44.1% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 27 Taylor County turnovers.  The Bruins recorded 10 blocked shots and 14 steals.  Taylor County shot 26% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Ballard turnovers.

 

Antoine Darby led Ballard with 15 points including three three point baskets and four steals.  Dorian Tisby added 14 points, four assists, and four steals.  Clivonte Patterson recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, four blocked shots, and two steals.  6-3 Jr. Delonta Wimberly chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.

 

Tre’Von Smith led Taylor County with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Ezra Oliver added six points and three rebounds.

Collins defeated Elliott County by a score of 65-57 in overtime.  The score was tied six times and there were six lead changes in the game.  Collins shot 42.3% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line.  The Titans connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored four points off seven Elliott County turnovers.  Elliott County shot 38.9% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lions connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Collins turnovers.

 

Charles Cochran led Collins with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Cochran was eight of nine from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and six of 10 free throws.  Nick Fort added 17 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Dayvion McKnight recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.  Dominique Turner chipped in with 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.

Terry Taylor led Bowling Green with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Zion Harmon added 20 points including two three point baskets, eight of nine free throws, and five steals.  Deangelo Wilson recorded 16 points including seven of eight free throws and four assists.  Kyran Jones pulled down 10 rebounds.

Jake Ohmer was again unstoppable as he led Scott with 32 points including six three point baskets, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Chad Ohmer added 14 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals.  Nelson Perrin chipped in with 10 points, four assists, and three steals. 

 

Idris Akenyemi led Perry County Central with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  Princewill Anosike added 13 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Damon Tobler recorded 11 points and five assists.

Zion Harmon hit a shot in the paint with 23 seconds left on the clock to give Bowling Green an 80-79 lead and Scott’s Jake Ohmer’s shot off the glass missed with three seconds remaining to allow the Purples to hold on for the victory.  The score was tied twice and there were four lead changes in the game.  Scott trailed 61-53 after three quarters and actually led by three points with 1:04 left in the game before Bowling Green rallied for the victory.

 

Bowling Green shot 58.9% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Purples connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 13 points off seven Scott turnovers.  Scott shot 45.3% from the field including 10 of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 21 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 14 points off nine Bowling Green turnovers.

 

Terry Taylor led Bowling Green with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.  Kyran Jones added 18 points and six rebounds.  Zion Harmon recorded 18 points including two three point baskets and six of six free throws.  Deangelo Wilson chipped in with 12 points.

 

Jake Ohmer led Scott with 33 points including four three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, eight rebounds, and five assists.  Chad Ohmer added 11 points including seven of seven free throws, eight rebounds, and five assists.  6-1 Sr. Vincent Dumlao also scored 11 points including two three point baskets.

Cooper controlled the tempo in this team and pulled away in the final quarter to earn a 51-44 victory over Fern Creek.  The score was tied six times and there were seven lead changes in the game.   Cooper shot 42.9% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 16 of 20 free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Fern Creek turnovers.  Fern Creek shot 43.6% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on eight of eight free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored eight points off six Cooper turnovers.

 

Sean McNeil led Cooper with 22 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.  Brayden Runion added 15 points and five rebounds.

 

Anthony Wales led Fern Creek with 13 points.  Ahmad Price added eight points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.  Daiquan Jones recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Cooper cut Bowling Green’s lead to six points halfway through the final quarter but Bowling Green answered with a 15-3 run to ensure a 67-56 victory and claim the state championship.  Bowling Green shot 51.4% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Purples connected on 24 of 30 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Cooper turnovers.  Cooper shot 44.7% from the field including 12 of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Bowling Green turnovers.

 

Zion Harmon led Bowling Green with 18 points including two three point baskets and 10 of 12 free throws.  Terry Taylor added 16 points including seven of eight free throws and 10 rebounds.  Kyran Jones added 11 points and eight rebounds.  Deangelo Wilson also scored 11 points including two three point baskets, four assists, and three steals.

 

Sean McNeil led Cooper with 20 points including six three point baskets and six rebounds.  Adam Kunkel added 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Dante Hendrix recorded nine points on three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Brayden Runion chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.
