Ryle vs. Scott County (Girls)

 

Ryle coach Katie Haitz started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Lauren Schwartz, 5-10 Fr. Maddie Scherr, 5-9 Sr. Madison Sturdivant, 5-5 So. Juliet McGregor, and 5-6 Sr. Cameron Miller.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 5-10 Jr. Peyton Riddle, 5-10 So. Maaliya Owens, 6-1 Fr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Fr. Morgan DeFoor, and 5-8 Sr. Kadee Hudson.

 

Ryle pulled away in the second half to defeat Scott County by a score of 7-55.  Ryle shot 38.5% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 30.8% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 15 Ryle turnovers.

 

Maddie Scherr led Ryle with 24 points including six of six free throws, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Lauren Schwartz added 16 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  5-6 Fr. Jaiden Douthit recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.

 

Peyton Riddle led Scott County with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Maaliya Owens added 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Kadee Hudson chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.  Morgan DeFoor recorded seven points, three rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.  Malea Williams added six points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.

Scott County defeated Rockcastle County by a score of 82-53.  Scott County shot 50.7% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 22 Rockcastle County turnovers.  Rockcastle County shot 45.2% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Scott County turnovers.

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Cooper Robb added 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, and five steals.  Bryce Long chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and five assists.

 

John Cornelius led Rockcastle County with 26 points including five three point baskets and five rebounds.  Jordan Hawkins added 12 points.  6-4 Sr. Lucas Gentry recorded five points and seven rebounds.

Evan Dreux.

 

Madison Southern led 17-5 early in the second quarter and 40-35 after three quarters but Lafayette rallied for a 57-53 victory.  Lafayette shot 41.3% from the field including six of 22 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 32.1% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Lafayette turnovers.

 

6-1 Jr. Devontae Hayes led Lafayette with 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Eric Powell added 11 points including six of seven free throws.  Chris Wharton chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Jajuante Carpenter recorded eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

 

Caleb Miller led Madison Southern with 23 points including three three point baskets and eight of 11 free throws and seven rebounds.  Shawn Short added 13 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and two steals.  Michael Jefferson recorded 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.  Bryar Rose pulled down 11 rebounds.

Madison Southern defeated Rockcastle County by a score of 66-54.  Madison southern shot 46.9% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Rockcastle County turnovers.  Rockcastle County shot 37.5% from the field including six of 17 beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Bryar Rose led Madison Southern with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Michael Jefferson added 15 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.  Caleb Miller recorded 11 points.  Shawn Short chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Simon Kenton defeated a good Franklin County team by a score of 67-43.  Simon Kenton shot 42.9% from the field including five of 15 from the field.  The Lady Pioneers connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 24 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 28.6% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 19 Simon Kenton turnovers.

 

Allyson Niece led Simon Kenton with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.  Shelby Harmeyer added 18 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds.  Bailee Harney recorded 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  5-8 Fr. Morgan Stamper added six points, four rebounds, and five assists.

Scott County led 37-19 in the second quarter and survived a furious comeback by Lafayette to earn a 72-69 victory.  Lafayette’s second half rally was fueled by eight three point baskets in 15 attempts.  Scott County shot 44.6% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 42.1% from the field including 10 of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 26 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and four blocked shots.  Cooper Robb added 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Bryce Long recorded 11 points and Glenn Covington recorded five points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Zion Prep turnovers.  Mt. Zion Prep shot 49.4% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Warriors connected on nine of 20 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight Hargrave Military Prep turnovers.

 

Naji Marshall led Hargrave Military Prep with 33 points including nine of 10 free throws and 11 rebounds.  Brandon Knapper added 22 points including three three point baskets and five assists.  Braxton Beverly recorded 19 points including three three point baskets and seven assists.  Justin Brown chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Hargrave Military finally pulled away in overtime to defeat Lafayette by a score of 98-88.  Lafayette trailed 67-53 after three quarters but Lafayette rallied in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Hargrave Military Academy shot 57.9% from the field including 10 of 19 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on 22 of 30 free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 35.4% from the field including 10 of 34 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 32 of 44 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 30 points off 23 Hargrave Military Academy turnovers.

Scott County earned a hard fought 73-69 victory over Franklin County.  The score was toed seven times and there were nine lead changes in the game.  Scott County shot 52.1% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 43.5% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.
