Dixie Heights vs. Boyd County

 

Dixie Heights coach Joel Steczynski started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Celia Pelfrey, 5-10 Sr. Kaylee McGinn, 5-11 Fr. Madelyn Lawson, 5-7 Sr. Grace Perry, and 5-7 So. Sydney Lockhard.  Boyd County coach Pete Fraley countered with 5-8 Sr. Graci Borders, 5-7 So. Harley Paynter, 5-8 So. Emma Borders, 5-3 Jr. Graci Opell, and 5-6 Sr. Savannah Wheeler.

 

Boyd County led 54-39 in the final quarter but had to withstand a determined rally by Dixie Heights to earn a 61-56 victory.  The score was tied once and there were seven lead changes in the game.  Boyd County shot 40.4% from the field including 10 of 26 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 26 Dixie Heights’ turnovers.  Dixie Heights shot 56.4% from the field including six of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Colonels connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 15 Boyd County turnovers.

 

Savannah Wheeler led Boyd County with 31 points including five three point baskets and three steals.  Harley Paynter added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Graci Opell recorded nine points and four steals.

 

Celia Pelfrey led Dixie Heights with 18 points on six three point baskets and four rebounds.  Madelyn Lawson added 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and three steals.  Kaylee McGinn recorded eight points and six rebounds.

Mercer County trailed by 13 points; 31-18 in the first half but Mercer County rallied to earn a 69-68 decision over Scott.  Mercer County shot 44.6% from the field including three of 18 from the three point line.  The Titans connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 Scott turnovers.  Scott shot 49% from the field including four of nine from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Mercer County turnovers.

 

5-8 8th Grade Timberlynn Yeast led Mercer County with 19 points and four rebounds.  Channing Lewis added 14 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Cameron Preston chipped in with 10 points.  Toni McCombs recorded seven points and six assists.

 

Mya Meredith led Scott with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Summer Secrist added 19 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.  Sofia Allen recorded 13 points and six rebounds.

Male defeated Grant County by a score of 56-35.  Male shot 41.5% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 22 Grant County turnovers.  Grant County shot 34.3% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Braves connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Male turnovers.

 

Cameron Browning led Male with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Joelle Johnson added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Destiny Combs recorded 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Alana Striverson chipped in with 10 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  5-11 Sr. Maya Crimes recorded eight points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.

Mercy Academy defeated Boone County by a score of 82-53.  Mercy Academy shot 55.6% from the field including two of seven from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 26 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 36.5% from the field including nine of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady rebels connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored eight points off 20 Mercy Academy turnovers.

 

Hope Sivori led Mercy Academy with 22 points including two three point baskets, six assists, and six steals.  Taziah Jenks added 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Paige Taylor recorded 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Regan Berger chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  5-9 So. Morgan Stamper led Simon Kenton with 20 points, 17 rebounds, and three assists.  Maggi Jones added 16 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Mattie Vickers recorded six points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Mercer County led 50-40 in the third quarter but Boyd County rallied to earn a 72-69 victory over the Titans in overtime.  Boyd County shot 34.8% from the field including nine of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Mercer County turnovers.  Mercer County shot 47.9% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Titans connected on 18 of 32 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Boyd County turnovers.

 

Savannah Wheeler led Boyd County with 42 points including three three point baskets, 15 of 17 free throws, seven rebounds, and five steals.  Harley Paynter added 11 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  5-8 So. Bailey Rucker recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.

Ryle raced out to a 24-11 first quarter lead and never looked back in an 83-54 victory over Male.  Ryle shot 52.6% from the field including 11 of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 23 Male turnovers.  Male shot 41.8% from the field including one of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on seven of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Ryle turnovers.

 

Brie Crittendon led Ryle with 24 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, four assists, and six steals.  Lauren Schwartz added 19 points including four three point baskets, nine rebounds, and three steals.  Maddie Scherr recorded 18 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, nine assists, and three steals.  Jaiden Douthit chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.

Rachel Bush led a balanced Simon Kenton scoring attack with 10 points and six rebounds.  Sereniti Webb also scored 10 points.  Mattie Vickers recorded nine points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three blocked shots.  Morgan Stamper added nine points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Maggi Jones recorded nine points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists.

Ryle led 31-27 but Boyd County rallied in the second half to earn a 71-63 victory.  There were 17 lead changes and eight ties in the game.  Boyd County shot 34.6% from the field including 14 of 30 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on 21 of 25 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 13 Ryle turnovers.  Ryle shot 38.7% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Raiders connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Boyd County turnovers.

 

Savannah Wheeler led Boyd County with 40 points including seven three point baskets, 15 of 18 free throws, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Graci Opell added 13 points including four three point baskets.  Harley Paynter recorded 12 points including five of five free throws, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Graci Borders pulled down 11 rebounds.

Boyd County trailed 41-37 after three quarters but rallied in the final quarter to defeat Highlands by a score of 61-59.  The score was tied 11 times and there were 10 lead changes in the game.  Boyd County shot 37.5% from the field including eight of 22 free throws.  The Lady Lions connected on 17 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Highlands turnovers.  Highlands shot 47.7% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Bluebirds connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Boyd County turnovers.
