Rockcastle County Coach Chrysti Noble started the following lineup: 6-1 Fr. Hallie Brown, 5-11 Jr. Casey Coleman, 6-0 Sr. McKenzi Himes, 5-5 Sr. Shelby Newland, and 6-0 Fr. Keelee King.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sandford countered with 5-10 So. Lauren Thomas, 5-7 Fr. Allison Stone, 5-10 So. Kennedy Williams, 5-3 Sr. Maddie Cox, and 5-7 8th Grade Lydia VanMeter.

 

Rockcastle County raced out to a 16-4 first quarter lead on their way to a 56-41 victory over Henry Clay.  Rockcastle County shot 45.2% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Rockets connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 30.9% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored eight points off 15 Rockcastle County turnovers.

 

McKenzi Himes led Rockcastle County with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Casey Coleman added 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.  Shelby Newland recorded nine points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Keelee King chipped in with eight points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

 

Maddie Cox led Henry Clay with 12 points on four three point baskets.  Allison Stone added 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  5-5 Jr. Ravion Jackson recorded six points and five rebounds.  Lauren Thomas pulled down 10 rebounds.

Lafayette eked out a 36-33 victory over Bourbon County.  The score was tied four times and there were six lead changes in the game.  Lafayette shot 27.8% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 23 Bourbon County turnovers.  Bourbon County shot 22.5% from the field including one of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Colonels connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 28 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Lauren Walton led Lafayette with 12 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, four rebounds, and three steals.  Anaya Brown added eight points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and six steals.  Olivia Cathers recorded eight points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

This event is not set up in a tournament format but each team plays three games over the four day period.  The final records were as follows: Madison Central (3-0), Rockcastle County (3-0), Harlan County (2-1), Lafayette (2-1), Bourbon County (1-2), Henry Clay (1-2), Menifee County (0-3), and Breathitt County (0-3).  A special thanks to the event staff for providing the comprehensive statistics for this event.
