Championship

Lincoln County captured the championship over a familiar foe as Anderson County defeated Lincoln County in their regular season finale to spoil their perfect record.  The Lady Eagles got their revenge as they defeated Anderson County in the championship game of the Salt River Conference and then captured the championship at the Kentucky Basketball Commission this weekend.  Lincoln County led 23-14 at halftime and pulled away for a 20 point victory.

Lincoln County finished the season 25-1 and is coached by Rebecca Shearer.  Coach Shearer is assisted by Coaches Chansler Gilbert and Danny Griffin and support staff Patti Greer.  Members of the squad include Hallie Mullins, Macey Carrier, Talynne Shearer, Taylen Ralston, Ellie Sims, Milah Mullins, Makayla Greer, Alexia Baldock, Chelsa Reed, and Maci ReedTalynne Shearer was named MVP for the tournament.

Anderson County is coached by Stacy Briscoe and the Lady Mustangs finished a great season and after playing six games against tough competition in a span of 27 hours ran out of energy against a very good Lincoln County squad.  Both teams faced excellent teams in the tournament with several teams having a realistic chance of capturing the title.  Anderson County was led this weekend by Lainey Johnson, Brylee Briscoe, and Jenna Satterly.

Congratulations to all the participants in this absolutely loaded event this weekend. Also congratulations to the staff at the Kentucky Basketball Commission for another great effort in putting this event together.  Tom Bower and I exchanged emails last week and we seem to have a common thread each year, this event gets better each year  and while the staff appreciates this they always strive to make it even better the following year.  Complacency leads to stagnation and the KBC staff will always work to improve their product and make it a memorable experience for the players, coaches, and fans.
