Lafayette (8-4) vs. Paul Dunbar (10-3)  January 4, 2000

Lafayette's coach Don Adkins started the following lineup:  6-2 Sr. J. D. Dixon, 6-1 Jr. Nick Everman, 6-4 Sr. Rod Napier, 6-2 Jr. Robert Madison, and 5-9 Jr. James Gentry.  Dunbar coach Eddie Oakley countered with 6-4 Jr. Rod Lyvers, 6-3 Jr. Clay Tate, 5-10 Sr. Rayshon Williams, 5-10 Sr. Brannon Dunn, and 6-5 Sr. Alexious Osumenya.

Lafayette came into the game hoping to rebound from a less-than-stellar performance in the Fifth Third Bank Kentucky Holiday Classic last week. Dunbar, on the other hand, wanted to retain their momentum gained through a championship run through the Berea tournament.

This game will probably not go into a time capsule as the two teams combined for over 50 turnovers.  Lafayette led 37-30 at halftime, but Dunbar scrapped back to take a 47-46 lead at the end of  three periods.  Robert Madison hit two free throws and a key "three" to give Lafayette the lead and 5-11 Jr. Quinton Roberts hit some key free throws down the stretch to allow Lafayette to hold on for a 67-64 win.  Lafayette was led by Madison with 20 and Rod Lyvers paced Dunbar with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
