Madison Central (16-5) vs. Henry Clay (15-7) February 8, 2000

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. started the following lineup:   6-2 Sr. Blake Reichenbach, 6-3 Jr. Eric Broomfield, 6-8 Sr. Kip Kirchbaum, 6-0 Jr. Nick Stephens, and 6-1 Jr. Josh Land.   Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles countered with 6-7 Sr. Mike Andrews, 6-0 Sr. J.C. Mitchell, 6-2 Jr. Rod Dunham, 6-2 Sr. Daryl Carden, and 5-10 Sr. Rod Cotton.

Henry Clay pulled off the upset by defeating Madison Central 61-58.  Henry Clay stormed out of the starting gate to lead at the end of the first quarter 19-6.  Madison Central fought back in the second quarter to close the deficit to three, 26-23 at halftime.  Madison Central took a 49-48 lead with approximately 3 minutes to play.  Carden then went to the bench with his fifth foul.  Madison Central took a 53-50 lead but Rod Dunham hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 53.  J. C. Mitchell scored a put back basket in the lane to Henry Clay a 55-53 lead and they held on for a 61-58 win.

Daryl Carden led Henry Clay with 19 points and 8 rebounds. J. C. Mitchell added 12 points.  Madison Central was led by Reichenbach and Broomfield with 15 and 13 points respectively.  6-2 Sr. Ryan Jones and 6-1 Jr. Lloyd Walker added 10 each. Henry Clay had no answer for the athletic Walker in the fourth quarter as he tallied all 10 of his points in the final period.
