Lafayette coach Damon Kelley started the following lineup:  6-3 Sr. Greg Leslie, 5-10 So. Dante Stewart, 6-8 Sr. Tyler Wilkerson, 5-10 So. Tommy Gifford, and 6-1 Sr. Pete Gifford.  Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles countered with 6-4 So. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Sr. Aaron Miller, 6-4 So. Victor Moses, 5-11 Jr. Travis Bowman, and 6-2 Sr. Aaron Dunaway.

Lafayette took a 45-26 lead at halftime on their way to an 81-64 victory over the highly ranked Henry Clay Blue Devils.  The score was tied 10-10 in the first quarter but Lafayette went on a 13-3 run to lead 23-13 at the end of the first quarter.  Lafayette increased the lead to 45-26 at halftime.  Lafayette scored 19 points off 20 Henry Clay turnovers in the first half.

Lafayette increased the lead to 56-30 in the third quarter before at Henry Clay rallied to cut the deficit to 7, 65-58, with 4:01 left in the game.  Lafayette finished the game with a 16-6 run to make the final score 81-64.

Lafayette shot 44.3% from the field, connected on 16 of 22 free throws, and pulled down 50 rebounds.  Lafayette scored 27 points off 26 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 35.1% from the field, connected on 10 of 19 free throws, and pulled down 47 rebounds.  The Blue Devils were only two of 16 from beyond the arc.  Lafayette committed 25 turnovers but Henry Clay could only convert for 17 points.

Pete Gifford led Lafayette with 24 points, six assists, and four steals.  Tyler Wilkerson added 18 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Tommy Gifford added 17 points on five of six from the field, including three of three from beyond the arc and four of four from the free throw line.  Dante Stewart added 10 points and eight rebounds, while 6-3 Sr. Enrique Shaw recorded five points and 10 rebounds.

Aaron Dunaway led Henry Clay with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Victor Moses added 13 points and nine rebounds.  Aaron Miller chipped in with 12 points, while Aaron Boyd also tallied 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
